The whole World is realizing the need to look at alternative ways to generate energy. In some countries they are becoming popular, but Canada has been making use of wind power systems for years. It has become widely accepted within the local and business communities as the means of generating their power requirements.
Canada has been very proactive in how it has been seeking to use the wealth of the natural resources it has. It knows it has to supplement the power generated by the more traditional methods of hydro power stations and fossil fueled power stations.
Using wind energy to power wind turbines to generate electricity is fantastic for the environment. With this as one of the major factors, the Canadian Wind Energy Association has made a strategy that will greatly increase the energy produced using the power of the wind to 55,000 MW by 2025. And the wind is a resource will not diminish and need to be replaced in the future.
Wind power used to be the most popular in Ontario, but recently other cities, including Quebec and Alberta, are using wind turbines to generate small quantities of energy for their residential neighborhoods and businesses as well. By the end of the last century and beginning of this century, all the provinces had looked into using some form of wind power to supplement traditional forms of electricity and fuels.
Only one province, that of British Columbia, does not have a facility to source their power from the wind. But they are now taking steps to catch up with the rest of the country, and are going to be purchasing 300 MW of renewable wind-sourced electricity in the near future. It will not be long until the whole population of Canada can benefit from this renewable energy source.
Though there are all these plans and strategies in place to adopt the Utopian world of living a life sourced by renewable energy, compared with the use of traditional sources wind power is currently only supplying a very small amount. The wind farms currently in operation generate approximately 2300 MW. But this amount will increase as the number of wind farms grows.
In the United States the border cities of Chicago and Detroit are also taking an interest in what is happening in Canada. They are giving a lot more thought to the use of renewable energies, including the wind, to power the large number of factories in their area. The benefits to their budgets and the environment would be incredible. Even if relying totally on wind power to fuel the cities is not practical, there is also the possibility of developing hybrid projects in order to lessen the drain on fossil fuels.
The benefits of utilizing wind powered green energy is not just for local governments and businesses, domestic users can benefit from this trend of using alternative energy sources as well (such as the Feed in Tarriff program). Residents can buy equipment to generate their own power from personal turbines. A small turbine will cost about $5000 and will generate something in the region of 25% of their energy requirement. If you have the room for something a bit larger then maybe you could get a turbine that can produce 50% of your energy needs, but only if you are prepared to pay $7000 for the privilege. Even an outlay of %600 will get you a machine that will produce 200 watts, ideal for that off-grid cabin in the woods.
It’s possible to run your business through more innovative ways by utilizing inventions like wind power and other alternative energy solutions that make your process more environmental and efficient!

As the fuel price continue to soar and more and more news coverage on global warming, one must start to wonder if the world is coming to an end. It is in fact coming to an end if we do not take the necessary measures to combat against the rising world temperature, and as much as 6 billions tree are needed to help the situation!
That is a lot of tree that we may or may not be able to plant in time, this mammoth effort are definitely out of our hands. However, that does not means that you can not do your part in terms of helping the planet, one way to do so is to stop unnecessary wastage as well as tapping on alternative energies that can eliminate harmful byproducts that can damage the atmosphere even more.
This article will talk about the various form of alternatives energy that you too can have it in your own backyard and do your part as a citizen of earth.
Sun Energy – Also known as solar energy, it is energy directly generated by the sun by using a panel or device that will help turn sun light into manageable and usable energy sources. Although it is expensive to install a solar panel right in your own home, it should eventually be able to pay itself off in the long run as you become less dependent on the utility companies, even better is that you can sell back some of the energies generated by that to the company to help cover your costs!
Wind – Using wind energy is not new, by using windmill, wind turbines and devices that turns these into renewable energy, you are no doubt helping the earth and yourself. There are instances where you do not need a large piece of land to do so, smaller scale can work just fine, just be sure that you’re combining it with solar energy as well to provide you with enough energy during times where you do not get enough sun.
Hydroelectric – Water can do so much for us, other than keeping us alive, it is also a great form of alternative energy source. The earth is covered in 70% of water and thus hydro power is not new, however installing one at your own home will need you to figure out how to scale it down, but trust me, at the end of the day it is definitely worth it to do so.
That being said, be sure to check with your local authorities and state government on their stand on installing these alternative energy sources right in your own home. Some places will encourage it by giving out tax deduction as well, just ask your local authority for more details. Every little things we do as citizen of the earth can contribute in saving the planet.

At the time the world gradually coming into the energy crisis, it is important that we shrink the utilization of non-renewable sources of energy. Renewable Energy solutions that keep on production energy without exhausting the natural resources refer to renewable energy solutions. Three categories fall into the group of renewable energy solutions most recognized and studied today: solar energy, hydro power, and wind energy.
Because the solar energy is limitless and free, use it. You may utilize sun power options at home. Using power from the sun for home will reduce your electrical power bills and save the environment. Depending on you are set up, you will apply solar power for cooking, heating and AC systems, lighting, and other electrical devices.
The solar power systems include many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They really are low on maintenance as a result saving your time and effort. Investing in solar energy for your home makes a lot of sense. You receive a return on investment really soon and the systems become free to use. Bear in mind that cooking using sun power is considered incredibly healthy.
People have been using windmills since prior to the birth of Christ. The oldest kind of renewable energy is wind power. Initially, windmills were used for towing boats and pumping water although over time, they started generating electrical power.
Tons of megawatts have been produced by wind power. Windmills and wind generators have been always in demand. Once used in your own home, wind energy will help cut down the use of standard energy. Being a great supply of renewable power, wind energy will go a long way promising a bright future for next many years.
Another outstanding resource of renewable energy is hydro or water power. One can transfer the hydro energy into electrical energy to run vehicles and a variety of electrical appliances. Usually, the hydro energy is created on industrial bases. About 90 percent of all electrical energy produced by renewable power sources is created by water power.

The usage of fossil fuels have propel human’s civilization to newer heights as it gives us the power to provide heating, gases for our cars, electricity as well as breakthrough in the way we live our life. Given the benefits and the convenience these fuels have brought us, it is no wonder today we’re facing a global meltdown and a rising worry about a shortage in power supply.
Fortunately for us, breakthrough in green energy sources have allow us to move forward once more and many are turning their attention to these form of energies as a mean to help save the environment and as a cheaper alternatives to the soaring price of traditional energy form.
Although many will argue that green energy sources have yet reach it’s full potential in terms of generating enough power to replace the traditional energy form, it should not prevent us or stop us from making the switch, as there are more than one form of energy sources available right now.
What are these alternative energy sources that I’m talking about? There are solar power, wind power, hydro power, wave power and even geothermal power that do not have the same negative effects to the earth like our current one which utilized nuclear power plant or coal power plant that pollutes the air atmosphere.
Do bear in mind that ultimately, coal power plant are still releasing a huge amount of carbon dioxide in our air and is one of the top contributing factor to the warming of the earth. Just imagine that there are about 50,000 plants all around the world right now!
I would like to quickly point out the effects of nuclear power plant, if you remember Chernobyl you’ll have an idea of how deadly it can be. Although unlike the coal power plants which emits harmful byproduct to the atmosphere, inappropriate or wrongly techniques used to dispose those spent power rods can easily cause a meltdown of the plant! Chernobyl today are also known as ghost town, quite rightly so given that there are still fatal radioactive materials lingering in the air, and up to hundreds of miles away.
On the other hand, using green energy sources may requires much less maintenance than other form of energy source, not to mention that most of it’s energy are generated from the earth itself, maybe this is a sign from mother earth telling us to use it’s energy instead?
Time is running out fast, temperature is rising every passing year and with the recent erupted volcano in Iceland, it did not help with our cause. Therefore, take the step in making a difference, practice good recycling habits as well as choose to preserve what we have before we lose them all.

The energy sources used to generate electricity varies, however the principle behind it’s very similar. Energy is employed to rotate huge turbines that are connected to massive generators which in turn turn out the electricity.
Nowadays’s major electric companies depend upon two major energy sources; fossil fuel and hydro power. To produce electricity from coal, huge furnaces with water is heated using coal as fuel. The steam made from the boiling furnace drives the turbine to produce electricity. Coal has been the quantity one source of energy to produce electricity for centuries. However, thanks to the fact that it is a non renewable supply of energy, makes it an unreliable energy supply for the long run. Someday coal would run out leaving us with no electricity. Plus, fossil fuel contributes most of the pollution we have a tendency to have today. Using coal as a supply of energy for manufacturing electricity is not a sensible method.
Hydro power offers clean reliable supply of energy it currently contributes most of the electricity we tend to use today. Huge dams are built near bodies of water such as lakes to control the water flow. The dam serves to purpose. One is to manage water flow and stop flooding, second is to channel the water into the turbines which manufacture electricity. Hydro power may be a a lot of cleaner approach to provide electricity. Water being a renewable source of energy can never run out. However some environmentalists still protest about using lakes and different bodies of water as an energy source, as they are saying that it disrupts the waters flora and fauna.
Electricity is also made through nuclear fission. It is a far additional productive use of nuclear power compared to nuclear bombs. Today, 14% of the planet’s energy comes from nuclear power. Heat is produced during a nuclear fission. The extreme heat is then used to heat huge furnace with water. The intense pressure from the steam is then used to drive the turbine and produce electricity. Continues research are still done to create this technique of electricity production much safer.
Generating electricity from renewable source of energy is simple these days. With thus many DIY kits obtainable within the market, anybody can setup their own renewable energy source. Two of the foremost in style renewable energy sources these days are wind and solar power. Solar power is starting to achieve popularity these days. Electricity is generated through photovoltaic cells or concentrating solar power. Wind power is also starting to catch up for manufacturing electricity. Wind turbines are typically located near farm lands since it needs wide open areas to operate. These 2 energy sources are simply a few of the promising renewable energy sources we would be using within the future.

The concept of Various Power Sources isn’t a replacement, Farmers, Millers and Producing are generating Various Power Sources for tons of years using wind and water power. Recently with the public currently responsive to the Global Warming damage being done and the consequences, Different Power Sources are being checked out additional seriously as we are beginning to understand our terribly survival is at risk.
The bulk of our Energy desires are made from Hydro Electric (dams), Carbon Primarily based Fuels or Nuclear. With the expectation of Hydro Electric that is renewable, the opposite two are not and produce huge deadly toxic by-products in the form of:
1. Nuclear waste from Electric Power Plants features a five hundred year [*fr1] life and has already overflowed the therefore called secure dumping grounds, much of those depleted atomic rods are stored on the surface close to to your City waiting transport to a save storage that at the moment are full.
2. Gas, Oil and Coal are the three main Fossil Fuels employed in all styles of transportation, electricity and producing it’s the only largest producer of Carbon Gases.
3. Hydro Power or Dams create giant areas of water reserves, this not solely destroys the land area needed to store the water however additionally removes vast areas of foliage that aborts carbon dioxide and replenishes oxygen into the air.
The foremost provide of our hungry energy demands are from using Fossil Carbon Fuels for gasoline in our cars to electric lights in our home. The Humanity is so hooked in to energy that a failure of the Electricity Power Provide Grid for from now on than 12 hours and the whole affected space can go into an emergency crisis status. The energy offer may be a long single chain; a sequence is solely as sturdy because the weakest link and any break in this chain results in a total stop working of the affected area and there are not any backup systems of Alternative Power Sources. It looks to be terribly strange why these existing Alternative Power Sources pollution free systems haven’t been brought into use in the home.
Transportation is the largest Carbon Dioxide contributor with Electricity Energy running a very close second. Finding Various Power Sources and creating our homes become self sustaining within the consumption of Electricity is the first and easiest step to stopping Global Warming. In 2004 the common price of most Various Power Sources was around $550USD; this has decreased as additional product are returning into the market. Various Power Sources do require maintenance and also the occasional upgrade; this may average less than $one hundred forty per year that is a ton less than 3 months of paying an Electric Provider. The largest benefit to switch to Various Power Sources for your house electricity needs is that the reduction that you create within the Carbon Dioxide Gases by using a pollution free energy system.
The idea of International Warming has been living for 30 years and the necessity to begin using Alternative Power Sources has been known for a long time, but has been strongly been fought by many members in the Earth Science Community; most of the opposition has not been based mostly on Science however rather on research funds available from Energy Companies for research project funding. Within the past we tend to have blindly place our trust in Giant Companies and Governments do we tend to would like to be reminded of G.W. Bush or Wall Street? Humans are like sheep they can be blindly herded and directed to slaughter, we tend to cannot afford the risks to continue down this path and using Different Power Sources must begin currently within the home.

Alternative electric energy has seen a marked increase in investment over recent years. As the world responds to the range of crises presented by global warming, viable solutions are being sought to combat the problem.
Demand for fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal have led to the depletion of the earth’s natural resources. The world’s forestry reserves are in trouble too as they are being cut down to supplement energy requirements. Solutions are desperately being sought in order to avert global disaster.
Most alternative electric energy systems are based on very simple technology that is easy to understand. Each of them is based on the concept of harnessing the infinite energy of nature to produce electricity. If more alternative electricity systems could be made use of this could help preserve our finite resources.
Many alternative electric energy systems have been around for a long time. They have been modernized and operate with the use of updated technology. We’ve probably all come across terms such as wind power, solar energy or even water power.
Windmills used by our predecessors to grind corn or wheat have evolved into the modern wind turbines we see today. Both types of windmill operate on similar principles. Each has large blades that rotate when the wind is trapped in them. The old windmill shafts were connected to a great millstone that would slowly roll as the wind turned the vanes. Newer windmills now turn electric generating turbines instead.
Hydro electric power is an alternative electric energy system that is not new in concept. Hydro power stations are the preferred choice in some areas for providing electricity to a large population. Their main benefits are that they are not expensive to run and they do not pollute the environment. This type of alternative electric energy system is often worked by the force of water in a dam which passes over turbine blades to generate electricity. Prototypes of the modern hydro turbine were huge wheels that turned millstones in the past.
Solar power is a very convenient alternative electricity system that is becoming very popular for small user and domestic application. This system is highly adaptable and can be fitted on rooftops. Solar power has been praised for its ingenious simplicity which rests on the invention of the photo voltaic cell. The cells are very small components that trap the sun’s rays and convert it into electricity. The consumer is able to utilize this electricity which is stored in batteries.
Is making a wind turbine the way for you to be electricity self sufficient? Some parts of the country have enough reliable wind to generate enough electricity to serve everyones needs.
Alternative Green Energy – Environmentally Friendly Energy

Alternative green energy refers to any form of electricity generation that is sustainable and has a limited negative impact on the environment. There are a range of methods. Some of these have been well received like wind, solar and hydro power. Others are more controversial and include using geothermal power and biofuels.
Wind power is a highly versatile form of alternative green energy. Wind is able to propel the vanes of a windmill which can then drive an electric turbine. Wind power does have advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that wind is free and abundant. The disadvantages include the noise of the rotating vanes if windmills are placed close to residential areas. Conservationists have also argued that too many windmills together are an eyesore that mars the beauty of the countryside.
Solar energy is a popular alternative green energy system. The energy of the sun could potentially be harnessed to power every home on the planet. Solar power is used to heat water that is fed into pipes for heating and hot water supply. Solar heated water can be transformed into hydrogen gas which is used for driving turbines. Solar energy can also be converted into direct electricity with photovoltaic solar panels. It is often argued that the production of solar cells is expensive and creates its’ own environmental problems.
Governments around the world seek alternative green energy systems that are cost effective and easily implemented. For many countries hydroelectric power has provided the ideal solution. As this particular alternative green energy is run by water pressure to drive electric turbines, the natural resources are readily available to be taken advantage of. Dams are built across flowing rivers so water flow can be controlled. Dam construction attracts a lot of concern. The interference with river flow can have a devastating impact on ecology. Also, flooding farmland to create lakes, has caused land being lost for agricultural use.
Geothermal power is an alternative green energy that has had some limited application. The principle behind it is to utilize the heat stored in rocks very far below the earth’s surface. Molten rock called magma at the earth’s core can heat up rock to super hot temperatures. Water is pumped through bore holes down into the ground where it can be heated by this energy source. The same water is then forced out through a second bore hole as a jet of steam.
Power plants can be operated using the steam generated by geothermal power, Geothermal power is an alternative green energy solution that is yet to see widespread implementation. This is because of the extremely high costs associated with drilling water holes. Further, it remains unclear what implications exist for causing earthquakes by geothermal power drilling.
Energy produced from plants is known as biofuel. Either oil pressed from plants or pure alcohol that can be distilled from them is used to fuel engines. As plants can be continuously farmed, biofuels are seen as an alternative green energy. There is however, a lot of controversy surrounding biofuels. One is the massive expanses of land required to produce the crops which some argue could otherwise be used for food.

Alternative electric energy has seen a marked increase in investment over recent years. As the world responds to the range of crises presented by global warming, viable solutions are being sought to combat the problem.
As we continue to burn gas, oil, coal and the world’s rainforests, we are contributing to the acceleration of global warming. The continued depletion of fossil fuels is a problem that has reached critical stages and something has to be done fast before finite resources are completely exhausted.
Many people think of alternative electric energy as advanced scientific concepts that are too complicated for the ordinary lay man. While many alternative energy systems are indeed high technology, the principle behind most of them is actually quite straight forward. The basic idea is to harness energy sources that are infinitely available or renewable to produce electricity instead of depleting finite sources any further.
Many alternative electric energy systems have been around for a long time. They have been modernized and operate with the use of updated technology. We’ve probably all come across terms such as wind power, solar energy or even water power.

3 Ways Hydro-power Is Produced
May 12, 2009 by admin
Hydro-power has been used for a variety of functions over the years. It was used in flour mills, where water-wheels turn a shaft, that ground the flour, and even in irrigation system thousands of years ago. These days, it has a more prominent role as a renewable source of energy.
There are three methods to producing hydro-power: hydro-electric energy, tidal energy. and through ocean waves.
Hydroelectric Power:
This form of hydro power accounts for over 90% of all renewable energy generated. Power is generated in large dams, where water is forced through large turbines.
The benefit to this type of hydro-power is the dam serves two purposes – to store water and to produce power. In fact, the water has so much stored energy, that it is capable of generating thousands of megawatts of power to light up an entire city.
The disadvantage is the devastating effect dams can have on plants, animals and even humans. When dams are built they flood large tracts of land that were once occupied by various species and communities of people. Furthermore, the water-borne animals, such as fish can also be affected. An example would be salmon that are blocked from swimming upstream to spawn by the newly erected dam.
Using The Tides:
Using the tides is the second most common form of hydro-power. Here, electricity is generated by using the low and high tides.
France and Russia have successfully used tidal power since 1966. One system is used in large bays and estuaries where water from the high tide is dammed up and diverted through turbines at low tide.
Because it works with the tides, the system is very predicable. However this is also its pitfall, since it only works every 6 hours when the tides changes.
The latest tidal power system operates where large windmill-type turbines are placed in shallow water, and spin slowly as the tide comes in and goes out.
The advantage of this system is that it is an adaptation of an already technologically advanced wind turbine – so all the refinement has been done. Furthermore, the dense water is far more efficient than wind at spinning these turbines. Thus even slow-moving water is just as effective as a strong wind.
The problem is these turbines can only be built in shallow sea floors, where marine life can be damaged and other enterprises, such as oyster farming, is affected.
Wave Power:
Harnessing the power of the waves is the newest type of hydro-power. The system works where surface waves, are used to displace air, which is then compressed and release through turbines, that then spins to make electricity. Two type currently exist – the first is built along the shore-line, where waves constantly break, and the second is built on floating devices in the deep oceans.
What makes this technology so appealing is it potential to harness over two thousand megawatts of power that the ocean’s waves contain.
But, like any renewable energy system, there are environmental implications. These systems can damage the various corals and other ocean species along our coastlines. And the hydraulic fluid used could cause major water pollution if it ever leaked out into the sea.
Last words:
Over the years we have come up with advanced methods of using water to produce power. Though there are a variety of benefits to using this kind of renewable energy, there are still a number of social and environmental concerns.

As the planet’s non-renewable energy sources start to run dry, everyone needs to do their part in making more use of abundant renewable energy instead.
To date there are four main types of renewable energy that we can produce: wind power, solar power, hydro power, and geothermic power.
Wind Energy:
Wind turbines have been around for millennia, further back than the birth of Christ. Over the years they have been used to pump water, drag boats and grind flour. But at the turn of the industrial revolution, wind turbines were made to produce electricity.
Although many people envision windmills as those ornate ones in Holland or the small wind-pumps on farms, they have been developed tremendously in the past decade. Now wind turbines are able to generate thousands of megawatts of power, and when used on a small scale at home, wind power can substitute conventional energy sources, helping households to get off the grid.
Solar Power:
Sunlight is the most abundant form of energy we have available, so there is no excuse for us not using more of it. But thanks to extensive research and development, we can make use of the sun in various ways – solar heating and passive solar design, solar electric power, and solar cooking and solar drying.
Solar water heating, solar electricity, and passive solar design are some the simplest and cost-effective ways to reduce your conventional energy use. They do not need much maintenance, and are really environmentally friendly. With solar cooking, no gas or electricity is needed, just some good sunshine. making it very popular for campers and travelers alike. Also, the food is cooked at a muhc lowere temperature, which helps to stop vital nutrients from being lost.
Water Power:
Like the ancient windmills, the power of the water was once used to grind flour or to power machines for irrigation.
Today hydro power is used in dams to produce electricity for households and businesses. Hydro-electric power is generate on a large scale where dammed up water is channeled through turbines, which spins a dynamo as it gushes through. The best example of hydro-electric power would be the Hoover Dam, which was built to provide electricity to Las Vegas. In fact hydro-electric power is efficient is popular nowadays that it accounts for over 90% of the worlds renewable energy.
Many environmentalists and socialists are against hydro-electric dams, since they affect the natural forna and flora and can cause the forced removal of entire cities.
Geothermal Energy:
Geothermal power is typically produced in areas with ongoing volcanic activity, where magma is relatively close to the surface. One such area is Iceland, where a large proportion of its power is produced from volcanic geysers.
Where this lava comes into contact with water, it super heats it and causes large volumes of steam to burst to the surface through geysers. The pressure from this steam is diverted and passed through turbines to generate electricity. Once the steam has passed through it is sometimes cooled, turned back into water, which is then pumped back into the geyser to make more steam. This makes it everlasting cycle…
