The whole World is realizing the need to look at alternative ways to generate energy. In some countries they are becoming popular, but Canada has been making use of wind power systems for years. It has become widely accepted within the local and business communities as the means of generating their power requirements.

Canada has been very proactive in how it has been seeking to use the wealth of the natural resources it has. It knows it has to supplement the power generated by the more traditional methods of hydro power stations and fossil fueled power stations.

Using wind energy to power wind turbines to generate electricity is fantastic for the environment. With this as one of the major factors, the Canadian Wind Energy Association has made a strategy that will greatly increase the energy produced using the power of the wind to 55,000 MW by 2025. And the wind is a resource will not diminish and need to be replaced in the future.

Wind power used to be the most popular in Ontario, but recently other cities, including Quebec and Alberta, are using wind turbines to generate small quantities of energy for their residential neighborhoods and businesses as well. By the end of the last century and beginning of this century, all the provinces had looked into using some form of wind power to supplement traditional forms of electricity and fuels.

Only one province, that of British Columbia, does not have a facility to source their power from the wind. But they are now taking steps to catch up with the rest of the country, and are going to be purchasing 300 MW of renewable wind-sourced electricity in the near future. It will not be long until the whole population of Canada can benefit from this renewable energy source.

Though there are all these plans and strategies in place to adopt the Utopian world of living a life sourced by renewable energy, compared with the use of traditional sources wind power is currently only supplying a very small amount. The wind farms currently in operation generate approximately 2300 MW. But this amount will increase as the number of wind farms grows.

In the United States the border cities of Chicago and Detroit are also taking an interest in what is happening in Canada. They are giving a lot more thought to the use of renewable energies, including the wind, to power the large number of factories in their area. The benefits to their budgets and the environment would be incredible. Even if relying totally on wind power to fuel the cities is not practical, there is also the possibility of developing hybrid projects in order to lessen the drain on fossil fuels.

The benefits of utilizing wind powered green energy is not just for local governments and businesses, domestic users can benefit from this trend of using alternative energy sources as well (such as the Feed in Tarriff program). Residents can buy equipment to generate their own power from personal turbines. A small turbine will cost about $5000 and will generate something in the region of 25% of their energy requirement. If you have the room for something a bit larger then maybe you could get a turbine that can produce 50% of your energy needs, but only if you are prepared to pay $7000 for the privilege. Even an outlay of %600 will get you a machine that will produce 200 watts, ideal for that off-grid cabin in the woods.

It’s possible to run your business through more innovative ways by utilizing inventions like wind power and other alternative energy solutions that make your process more environmental and efficient!

Landlords – Slash Your Energy Expenses And Attract Green Tenants

July 22, 2010 by Craig Axelrod

If you are a landlord solar energy can help you slash your heating costs and attract green tenants to your buildings. Using the latest green technologies will allow you to reduce the amount of fuel or electricity you use to heat your property. Solar heating tubes can help you do this. Whether you are a residential landlord or a commercial landlord solar energy will help you attract an emerging clientele who are worried about their impact on the environment, for both practical and ideological reasons. As government regulations concerning energy usage becomes stricter, businesses are under increasing pressure to consider facilities which reduce emissions as much as possible. Even residential tenants are becoming interested in homes which make use of green energy supplies.

How Much Benefit Do Solar Heating Tubes Give?

The extent of the benefits you can receive by installing solar heating tubes will depend chiefly on what kind of heating system your building employs. Almost all buildings can receive the advantages of using the solar heating tubes to heat your building’s water. Owners of buildings that use radiant heat will further benefit by using the solar heating tubes to heat the building itself. In either case, the savings can be quite considerable, especially when factored over a protracted time period.

Solar heating tubes help you slash your heating costs even if your building is in a colder environment, or one that receives fewer days of direct sunshine than others. The cylindrical tubes are a relatively new development, and represent a a new take on the standard, flat solar panels which have been with us since the 1960s. The way the tubes are shaped allows them to be positioned so as to be in continuous contact with the sun’s rays, thus increasing their efficiency. Vacuum tubes are also used for optimal insulation purposes, making sure that very little of the harvested energy is lost until it is used to heat the building. The more energy efficient the system the less you have to rely on electricity or gas, which will ultimately affect your bottom line by cutting your heating costs.

Spend Today, Save Tomorrow

Even though solar technology is nothing new, and environmentally aware tenants have long encouraged building owners to find energy efficient, renewable sources for providing heat and electricity, the means for doing so is now available. If you want to slash your energy expenses and attract green tenants, you should strongly consider installing the most up-to-date solar heating tubes at your earliest convenience. With many of the world’s governments on board with renewable energy programs, and many of them promising big incentives for landlords green energy not only makes ethical and environmental sense, but financial sense too. Why wait?

One last word: even if it were not for the fact that installing solar heating tubes will save you money, and even if it wasn’t true that using green energy will open up an entirely new client base of green tenants to you, it is also the right thing to do. All steps towards renewable, non petroleum and coal dependant energy sources not only save you money, but help save the planet; and that, simply put, is just the right thing to do.

You don’t need to be rich and famous anymore to use solar power, since solar systems are more affordable these days. There’s nothing wrong with being environmentally friendly. In fact, the Earth needs it because of the many problems it is currently facing, such as global warming. To generate electricity, fossil fuels are needed, but with the continuous burning of fuels, global warming will also become worse. Because of this fact, people are already opting for solar powered homes today.

There are advantages in using solar power for homes. How much are you paying for electricity bills every month? Many homeowners have aching pocketbooks because of the costly electricity expenses. One way to reduce your bills is by opting for solar power.

You won’t need any wiring if you use solar power systems. For instance, in your garden lights and outdoor water systems, you can use solar power. Many of these gadgets have light sensors and you don’t have to worry about turning them off. Solar lights are widely available, and you just need to place them where you want to have some good light.

Solar power is, of course, environmentally friendly. It is an excellent source of renewable and clean energy. Using it, you won’t contribute to pollution, unlike fossil fuels. By using solar power systems like the solar cooker, solar thermal systems, and solar generators, you can do things without emissions. You can help to save the environment.

During the initial phase of using solar power, you will have to spend some money. Just think of it as an investment where you will benefit in the long run. For under $300, you can use solar power in your home. Solar power is free to use, since you will use the sun’s energy to create electricity. You can make use of solar lights, solar panels, etc.

Don’t cut off your conventional electricity supply after you’ve started using solar power. It’s not always sunny, and so you may need traditional electricity during rainy days. The best thing about solar power is that it decreases your monthly electric bill. If you can convert your home into a full solar powered house, you will benefit greatly and won’t even worry if fuel prices increase.

Power outages often occur when there are problems, but as long as you have solar power, you can keep using electrical appliances without interruption. For those who are interested in using solar power, you can start with simple projects like the water features and lights in your garden. These pieces are easy to develop and you don’t need any wiring.

As with everything on earth, there are disadvantages as well as advantages. While solar power has many advantages, you also need to look into the disadvantages. You need to carefully consider things before you decide to create your solar powered home.

Today, it’s easy to purchase solar powered devices, such as flashlights, pool purifiers, ventilators, mosquito inhibitors, heaters, fountain pumps, radios, lighting, and many others. Be prepared to spend a little money upfront for solar powered devices, but don’t worry. After a few months, you will start enjoying savings off of your monthly electric bill. Energy Efficient Light Bulbs — A Straight Forward Way Of Saving Money.

June 21, 2010 by Terry O'Reilly

You’ve probably heard it more often that you would like to, but changing your incandescent or halogen bulbs for more efficient lighting can add up to tangible monthly savings on your power bill. If you’re wondering precisely how much you could save, use this simple calculation to figure it out in real dollars and cents.

A sample scenario will show you exactly how to utilize this method for your own home.

(Note: Kilowatt hours are indicated by “Kwh”.)

Watts x hours in use per day = total watts used per day.

Watts used each day divided by 1000 = Kwh used each day.

Kwh used each day x 30 = total Kwh used each month.

Monthly Kwh x $ per Kwh = monthly cost.

Let’s utilize this method with the example of a 100 watt incandescent or halogen bulb. If you’re lighting a working space, like a sewing room or basement workroom, you might have that bulb lit for a daily average of 10 hours. (That is not an exaggeration. Lights are often on more than 10 hours per day, particularly in winter months.). To make this calculation we’ll use a ballpark rate of $.12 per kilowatt hour as your cost, even though your actual rate may be somewhat more or less than this. You can locate the rate you are paying per kilowatt hour by looking at your power bill.

10 hours run time for a 100 watt bulb = 1000 watts per day.

Divided by 1000 = 1 Kwh per day.

1 Kwh a day x 30 days per month = 30 Kwh used per month.

Multiply 30 Kwh by a cost of $.12 = Monthly cost of $3.60. That’s how much it costs to use a single 100 watt bulb.

We can easily add up the savings gained by installing an energy efficient bulb, using the same method. To substitute for a 100 watt bulb you normally need a compact fluorescent that’s at least 23 watts, though you might wish to use a 25 or 27 watt bulb if you’re changing over from halogen.

23 watts for 10 hours = total 230 watts each day.

Divided by 1000 = total of 0.23 Kwh per day.

0.23 Kwh x 30 days = 6.9Kwh per month.

6.9 Kwh times $.12 = Total cost of $.83 monthly. The saving adds up to $2.70, which is a cost reduction of 77% for just one bulb.

You could save $27.70 every month on your electric bill by swapping ten 100 watt light bulbs for a compact fluorescent version.

This method can be employed to figure out the actual money you would save by changing all your bulbs for compact fluorescents, choosing wattages that would provide the same illumination as your halogen or incandescent bulbs. Energy efficient bulbs are now available in a great variety of styles, as well as with alternate bases to accommodate a number of lighting fixtures, so it’s not hard to change over. If you have fixtures on dimmer switches there’s no problem; you can find energy efficient bulbs that are compatible, and also heavy duty bulbs that can go into exterior fixtures.

The initial expense of a compact fluorescent bulb will be higher, it’s true. Given the much longer lifespan these bulbs have and the drop in energy used, you will still spend less money, and the saving will increase over time. An incremental change to energy efficient lighting, by changing a small number of bulbs once a month, will help to distribute the extra cost of these lights; since your power bill is down, the bulbs will be paid off in six to eight weeks.

You’ll want to retain your receipts for the compact fluorescent bulbs because they are typically covered by a long term warranty. To make sure you can claim a replacement bulb on the guarantee if you need to, put a note on the packaging or the receipt indicating which bulbs were put into each fixture.

Switching over to more economical lighting is an excellent place to begin reducing your energy bills, and you can find many ideas on saving energy at the Energy Resources Journal. Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

With all the improvements in green energy technology, it is now simpler than ever to begin adapting your house into a green energy home. A green energy home makes usage of renewable sources to supply hot water, power, heating and security.

There are miscellanea of methods to making your house a green energy home.

Solar power is the first thing. In your green energy home you could put in a solar heating system to heat and store water for use, and put in photovoltaic solar panels to convert the sun’s rays into power and so on. If you bought and had these systems put in by a specialist they could be rather expensive. However, there are numerous resources and guides on the market to produce your own solar panel and hot water systems that are much more affordable.

If your house is still being built, a good way to turn it into a solar power house is to engage passive solar technology during construction. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, this means making use of the south-facing sides of your house for heating and cooling. By putting in many light-efficient windows and heat regulating bricks on the south-facing side, these passive solar strategies help make your house into a green energy home.

Making use of a windmill on your property is the another method. Windmills are driven by the wind to generate power and even pump water from an outdoor source. To produce clean electric power, Wind turbines can be fixed on your rooftop or in your yar. Like solar panels, domestic windmills can be bought and installed commercially, but that costs a lot of money. So, in recent times a wide selection of low-priced sets have been made put on the market for people to make their own wind turbines and install their own green energy home plans.

Generating Your Own Green Energy Now

May 27, 2010 by Craig Axelrod

The phrase green power has become quite pronounced recently as more and more people are beginning to truly realize the benefits of going green. While the term green with envy may come to mind for some people, what hits people first when Americans talk about green energy is the fact that it is a cost-reducing opportunity for anyone who uses electricity and other types of power.

Whether you drive your car, whether it’s a sixty mile commute each way every single day to work or once a month down to the local market, you burn energy. Most often in our current lifestyle energy comes in the form of foreign oil. A product of burning oil and gas is carbon emission, which is often believed responsible for the increase in global temperatures every year for recent memory.

Green power is rapidly becoming a household term and while most people still haven’t tried out its benefits into their daily lives, there is a growing list of potential uses that cannot be brushed aside any longer. Saving money is certainly the most important benefit to most people, especially in our financial situation.

People could potentially save five, ten, or even twenty dollars a day by switching to green energy. If you had ten dollars a day saved up, at the last day of one month that would be a savings of three hundred dollars! During the course of a year that total would then be $3,600. Maybe that amount doesn’t mean much to you, but for most people it can total more than a full month’s salary for millions of people.

Is it realistic? Absolutely. Green energy is becoming more important every day into households and areas that had been opposed or simply refused to consider it for years, and the people who are benefiting from it are benefiting in large quantities. The most normally thought of green energy sources are solar and wind energy. Trapping the power of the sun and the wind has been a fascination and goal of people for hundreds, and even thousands, of years.

These considerations aren’t new, but when automobiles became the primary mode of transportation during the twentieth century, oil turned into the main origin of energy resources. People didn’t consider when the oil ran out, and there would be no long-term consequences. People thought the same about coal, yet today those conceptions have long-been proven misleading.

Green energy is about clean, renewable energy, something that cannot be said about oil. The day that all of the oil runs out, there will be a need for some other source. Of course, this won’t happen in most of our lifetimes, but it is coming. The more vital point about green energy is that it is non-polluting. And efficient. Whenever you have a source of power that produces little or no harmful emissions, and will continue to provide year after year, then you have something that should become a routine for just about anyone.

If you choose green energy as power source it is not only a good decision but also an economical and sustainable one choice. There are alternative sources of energy available today; there are ways that have never been considered on the past. At present there is virtually an unlimited possibility of creating energy and one of them is creating a free energy at home by using a DIY generator.

More precisely, solar and wind energies are the top two choices in devising the DIY generator. As a result of the ballooning request for these products, the prices are starting to tag down dramatically The components and the raw materials are readily available on local hardware stores.

There are few guides on how to craft DIY generator on the internet. These guides are very affordable and makes people take the chance to devise their DIY solar panels and wind turbines for a divide of the price that they would consume on buying a ready made one. The opportunity results to increasing number of people who start to become more practical and do their part on protecting the planet.

The new featur of DIY generator is by making use of the magnets to create an electromagnetic power source as alternative energy source. The advantage of these generators is that it works in all kind of weather. Unlike the solar generator that depends on the amount of sunlight and the wind turbine on the amount of wind vigorously blown on an area, electromagnetic generators works under all condition. The downside to these electromagnetic generators is it requires you to be competent with talents regarding the manipulation of magnets. henceforth there are manuals that are available to download from the internet.

Aside from being free power sources, DIY generator is also clean and entirely environment friendly. Use of fuels like gasoline and crude contributes extremely to the air pollution that we are experiencing today. By using DIY generator, we can decrease the circulating amounts of Carbon monoxide and other toxic gases that paint the air dark.

At the time the world gradually coming into the energy crisis, it is important that we shrink the utilization of non-renewable sources of energy. Renewable Energy solutions that keep on production energy without exhausting the natural resources refer to renewable energy solutions. Three categories fall into the group of renewable energy solutions most recognized and studied today: solar energy, hydro power, and wind energy.

Because the solar energy is limitless and free, use it. You may utilize sun power options at home. Using power from the sun for home will reduce your electrical power bills and save the environment. Depending on you are set up, you will apply solar power for cooking, heating and AC systems, lighting, and other electrical devices.

The solar power systems include many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They really are low on maintenance as a result saving your time and effort. Investing in solar energy for your home makes a lot of sense. You receive a return on investment really soon and the systems become free to use. Bear in mind that cooking using sun power is considered incredibly healthy.

People have been using windmills since prior to the birth of Christ. The oldest kind of renewable energy is wind power. Initially, windmills were used for towing boats and pumping water although over time, they started generating electrical power.

Tons of megawatts have been produced by wind power. Windmills and wind generators have been always in demand. Once used in your own home, wind energy will help cut down the use of standard energy. Being a great supply of renewable power, wind energy will go a long way promising a bright future for next many years.

Another outstanding resource of renewable energy is hydro or water power. One can transfer the hydro energy into electrical energy to run vehicles and a variety of electrical appliances. Usually, the hydro energy is created on industrial bases. About 90 percent of all electrical energy produced by renewable power sources is created by water power.

Thousands of people world wide are creating their own alternative energy. Reduce your electrical energy bill and save the environment, check out the link at the bottom.

    Advantages of Green Renewable Energy

The usage of fossil fuels have propel human’s civilization to newer heights as it gives us the power to provide heating, gases for our cars, electricity as well as breakthrough in the way we live our life. Given the benefits and the convenience these fuels have brought us, it is no wonder today we’re facing a global meltdown and a rising worry about a shortage in power supply.

Fortunately for us, breakthrough in green energy sources have allow us to move forward once more and many are turning their attention to these form of energies as a mean to help save the environment and as a cheaper alternatives to the soaring price of traditional energy form.

Although many will argue that green energy sources have yet reach it’s full potential in terms of generating enough power to replace the traditional energy form, it should not prevent us or stop us from making the switch, as there are more than one form of energy sources available right now.

What are these alternative energy sources that I’m talking about? There are solar power, wind power, hydro power, wave power and even geothermal power that do not have the same negative effects to the earth like our current one which utilized nuclear power plant or coal power plant that pollutes the air atmosphere.

Do bear in mind that ultimately, coal power plant are still releasing a huge amount of carbon dioxide in our air and is one of the top contributing factor to the warming of the earth. Just imagine that there are about 50,000 plants all around the world right now!

I would like to quickly point out the effects of nuclear power plant, if you remember Chernobyl you’ll have an idea of how deadly it can be. Although unlike the coal power plants which emits harmful byproduct to the atmosphere, inappropriate or wrongly techniques used to dispose those spent power rods can easily cause a meltdown of the plant! Chernobyl today are also known as ghost town, quite rightly so given that there are still fatal radioactive materials lingering in the air, and up to hundreds of miles away.

On the other hand, using green energy sources may requires much less maintenance than other form of energy source, not to mention that most of it’s energy are generated from the earth itself, maybe this is a sign from mother earth telling us to use it’s energy instead?

Time is running out fast, temperature is rising every passing year and with the recent erupted volcano in Iceland, it did not help with our cause. Therefore, take the step in making a difference, practice good recycling habits as well as choose to preserve what we have before we lose them all.

Top 5 Reasons To Make A Magnetic Generator For Home Power Service

April 26, 2010 by John Treby

It is becoming more and more expensive to power a residential home. Many homeowners are unable to afford the rising energy costs. For this reason, many people are building magnetic generators to power their homes. Magnetic generators can produce energy independently, without the need for sources such as the sun or wind to function. Magnetic generators are practically maintenance free, and are very reliable. Magnetic energy is clean, which is another benefit of this power source. Following are 5 reasons to make a magnetic generator for home power use.

You can produce free energy with magnetic power generators. The energy is produced by the motion of repelling magnets. This continuous motion creates energy. Once energy is created, it can be hooked up to your residential power system, then used for home electricity. These energy producing generators are capable of producing energy almost forever. They will run for an indefinite period. In rain storms or other inclement weather, a magnetic generator will continue to produce energy indefinitely.

Generators that run on magnetic energy can save substantial money on your home electricity costs. By creating an unlimited supply of energy, magnet generators can drastically reduce your monthly electricity bill. In many cases, costs are reduced by as much as 70 percent.

Article: There are many ways that you can go green with air condition products for Next Season in Canada. Many of these options allow you to keep the climate in your home cool during the hot summer, while still allowing you to save energy and be kinder to the ozone layer.

For the past several years, the trend of installing a home a/c unit has been on the rise. For 2010, the expected rise in this trend will be about 3%, according to hrai.com. This trend is expected to remain on an upward climb for the next several years as newer technology gets introduced to the market.

Canada uses the EnerGuide to help consumers easily find green, energy efficient products, and this voluntary certification is used for heating and cooling systems. It is easily recognizable and displays wells so you can find them easily. This allows consumers to know which ones can save on their energy cost and be better for the environment.

There are new products designed with the Coll Solution approach, and are currently available for business as part of their heating and refrigeration solution. It cuts down on the loos of refrigerant while using the heat produced to keep the building warm. It is under development for the home market, but is used as an innovative system for business only while still giving them some fantastic energy efficiency.

The new R-401A coolant is replacing the older R-22 as of 2010. R-22 Will still be able to be bought for 10 more years, and recycled until 2030, but the newer type is the only coolant available in the new units placed into homes. The R-401A is being used in both businesses and home use and does not contribute to harming the environment and the ozone.

The best thing about the R-401A is that it uses the most amount of refrigerant so it works more efficiently with less power. It helps the units become more energy efficient, and does keep the internal parts f the unit cooler so that the cycle is happening less often with less energy being used. This combines to greatly offer you a savings on your summer energy bill.

    Building Solar Panels for Dummies!

April 20, 2010 by Zach Angelo

A revolutionary change is sweeping across the world and the U. S. As more and more people are generating energy naturally than through carbon generating methods. You too can learn how to build solar panels in your own home as an experiment to see how this renewable source of energy can cut down expenditure.

The advantage of this experiment is to learn about something first-hand what one has only read about. This way you will know what it is for yourself. And your entire family can participate too! To begin, head out to the hardware department.

Once there, buy half a square foot of a sheet of copper flashing, an electric stove, a large mouth bottle, glass or plastic (5 litre mineral jar), a sensitive micro-ammeter, few table spoons of table salt, tap water, sand paper or wire brush on an electric drill, metal shears and three alligator clip leads.

Next, heat stove on high and put copper sheet on it. The sheet will turn into an orange, purple, red or pink color; soon you will see these colors disappear and the sheet darkens. In this manner, the sheet should be BAKED for 30 minutes.

Once this is complete, let the sheet cool off without inducing the cooling process. It will be seen that the sheet is getting smaller. Flaking of the chemical deposits will be seen at this point.

As soon as it cools down entirely, it should be held under a tap of running water to allow the flakes to fall off. This has to be done with ease and a gentle touch so as not to hurt the SOLAR PANEL.

Run water over it from a running tap after it cools down. This will wash off the flakes but ensure you do this really gently and do not erode this SOLAR PANEL created by you.

Now, attach your clip leads, one to the new copper plate, and one to the COOKED one. The clean sheet should be attached to the positive side of the meter and the cooked one to the negative.

Stir many table spoons of salt into hot tap water and ensure it dissolves entirely. Empty this mixture into the bottle while ensuring that the clip heads remain dry. Allow the sheets to be above water for up to an inch. Your first homemade solar battery is complete!

The cell produces 50 micro amps at 0.25 volts. Do not expect to light bulbs to light or charge batteries with this device. It can be used as a light detector or light meter and it would take acres of them to power your house which would be very expensive.

You can build your solar panels this weekend! Find the step-by-step video guides at the Green DIY Energy Review. Stop paying for your energy Green DIY Energy guide.

    Alternative Energy Solutions

April 16, 2010 by Andrew McGregor

Alternative energy is energy derived in such a way that it does not harm the environment or the fuel sourced that it relies on. The debate against common energy solutions such as fossil fuels (petroleum, coal, etc.) that are in use today is an old one. They harm the environment and are a cause of pollution, whereas on the other hand they are non-reusable, that is that they would eventually run out as we have a limited supply of them and they cannot be replaced, hence the need for alternative energy solutions.

    Large number of alternative energy solutions has been identified by the scientists and researchers of the world and they have been trying to improve the quality and methods of production of energy from them for so long. Some of solutions which have been put into practice are as follows;

Wind power. Wind power harvests the wind and converts it into electricity. This is done by using wind generators such as turbines etc. Wind turbines are basically large fans which rotate due to wind and then their kinetic energy is converted into electricity. Large farms of wind turbines are being used to generate electricity successfully around the world. Floating wind farms in the middle of the sea are now being tested as they can harvest more wind without any obstructions such as hills, etc.

Biomass or Biogas is the fuel obtained from plants and organic matter available in the earth and they are produced by first transforming them into briquettes and then by burning them to a specific form in a specialized boiler. They produce heat and generate methane when treated with an anaerobic environment of bacterial decomposition. The heat is then used to run turbines and generators which produce electricity and the natural gas or the methane gas produced can be used as a cooking fuel. Biomass, which is the resultant quantity of the process, will function as a cleaner.

Solar Energy. Solar energy uses the sun to produce electricity. Solar panels gather sunlight efficiently and then use it to heat up water which can be utilized to generate energy. The electricity generated by solar energy can be stored in batteries as backup for night and cloudy days. Solar energy and wind power can be combined together to provide an unbroken supply of electricity.

A Few Facts About Green DIY Energy

April 14, 2010 by Zach Angelo

With all the emphasis on green products today, green DIY energy makes sense. Do-it-yourself green energy is a way to generate electricity yourself using the power of the sun or the wind. The technology for photovoltaic cells has existed for years, but it has only been in the last three or four decades that the solar panels have become widely accepted. Solar panels are becoming more powerful and more efficient all the time, but many homeowners have been reluctant to purchase them because of the high initial cost.

Solar panels combine individual cells in a frame and connect to your household power grid to provide energy to run the lights, appliances and equipment. Solar energy is available on the entire surface of the earth, but so far, converting the light into energy has not been as efficient as hoped. Only twenty percent of the available light is actually converted into energy.

Windmills have been around for decades. The wind that drives a windmill is virtually unlimited. If you reside in a windy area, it is likely that you could use wind power for some or all of your energy needs. The advantage of wind power over solar is that the wind blows day and night, but the sun only provides direct conversion during the daylight hours.

More people today are choosing to get part or all of their power from wind sources or from solar energy. There is increasing recognition that fossil fuel sources are being exhausted, at least in parts of the world. What is now encouragement to switch to alternative energy sources may eventually become a requirement.

Learning the efficient way to utilize energy takes some research, both to put the right hardware to use and to find the systems information you will need. Look to the Internet for plenty of ideas about energy generation at home. Clear and simple instructions for building or hooking up alternative power sources are available.

You may want to research the subject of how to do an energy audit for your home. This definition of where you are using or wasting energy in your household can be helpful in determining where your true energy needs are. A combination of replacing fossil fuel energy with solar or wind energy where possible and making better use of the utility company sources can reduce your energy costs. It will also help to reduce global energy use.

Green DIY energy can lower the price for implementing non-fossil fuel energy sources in your residence or business. You can lower costs by reducing the use of energy and by replacing utility company energy with home captured hardware. Both solar energy and wind energy sources can be tapped using simple techniques and construction methods.

The Great Points of Using Renewable Energy in Your Home

    April 12, 2010 by admin

Have you ever pondered the benefits of using renewable energy for your home? Do you contemplate your personal advantages, or the perks of the big blue marble, Earth? There are blessings from both perspectives.

From the personal level, there is the obvious benefit of money. It is possible to sometimes generate more energy than you need, and sell it to the power company causing your meter to run backwards, reducing your bill.

Pondering on a planetary scale, it’s impossible not to consider the wars, related to oil, despite what politicians may tell us. The insanity of the mightiest countries in the world, risking their stability to quench their obsessive thirst for the thick black liquid, boggles the mind. If renewable energy could meet our home energy requirements, wars could end, or just not start. That must be the biggest impetus to getting serious about solar power.

We could make the air we breath a lot cleaner and safer, not only for us, but for our families to be, for generations to come. People would be healthier and cancer and illness would be drastically reduced.

Of all the ways to create power, nuclear energy is the most insane. If aliens exist they must be laughing at our stupidity. The danger nuclear power plants pose, and the taxpayer subsidies they require, make them a mistake beyond belief. Yet for the first time in decades, the United States is planning on building more. Solar based energy powering our homes would make it obvious that more nuclear plants should never be built.

Think back to your high school physics class; specifically thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics told us that the amount of energy stays the same. It can not be created or destroyed. The second law, the entropy law says that it can change forms, and the natural progression is to change into a less available form. Oil based energy is like accelerating the entropy law many times over.

But then you look at solar based, green, renewable energy, and you feel like the entropy law took a vacation. We can actually go with the natural flow of energy and use it over and over without much in the way of cost or harm. Whether it’s geothermal or wind or straight from sunlight, or even from the flow of water; the benefits of using renewable energy in our home are for individuals right here and billions of neighbors on the planet. They are felt now and generations from now. They influence our bodies and our financial affairs. The benefits are direct, as well as complex.

If you contemplate the benefits of using renewable energy for your home, are you thinking about yourself, or of the spaceship you live on, called Earth? There are gains to be made on both levels.

From an intimate perspective, there’s an immediate financial advantage. You can stay connected to the grid for when you need it, but other times have more energy than you require, and sell it to the local utility, greatly reducing your bill.

From a more grand point of view, the obvious subject that comes to mind is the wars, that we all know have a lot to do with oil. Mighty nations allow their very security to be threatened by this dependence on crude oil. Green energy handling our home power needs has the potential to stop and prevent wars. Can there be a larger motivation to go green than that?

We could make the air we breath a lot cleaner and safer, not only for us, but for our families to be, for generations to come. People would be healthier and cancer and illness would be drastically reduced.

Of all the ways to create power, nuclear energy is the most insane. If aliens exist they must be laughing at our stupidity. The danger nuclear power plants pose, and the taxpayer subsidies they require, make them a mistake beyond belief. Yet for the first time in decades, the United States is planning on building more. Solar based energy powering our homes would make it obvious that more nuclear plants should never be built.

Do you recall your high school physics? The first law of thermodynamics taught us that energy can not be created or destroyed. The entropy law (the second law) showed us that energy can be transferred, but each time, it winds down into a less useful form. Our current energy policy on Earth, based on fossil fuels is a high entropy option. It’s almost the worse possible use of our energy.

Green energy, though, is almost like a respite, or pause in the entropy law. At the very least, it is an extremely low entropy energy policy that we really need to transition to. Solar based energy can be direct from the sun, derived from the motion of water, or from geothermal activity or wind. No matter what method you choose, the benefits of using renewable energy for your home are felt in your community and your planet, currently and later in time. They affect your well being and your finances. They are easy to understand, yet very deep.

Making Use Of Green DIY Energy Concepts

March 25, 2010 by Zach Angelo

Creating a “greener” world through green DIY energy projects is not only possible but it’s probably an imperative, given that the world is running out of non-renewable fossil fuel energy resources. By taking advantage of efficient “green” technologies in a number of do it yourself (DIY) projects, people can gradually wean themselves from fossil fuels while also helping to clean up the environment.

If anybody needs any convincing that maybe completing a few do-it-yourself green energy conservation projects should be the way to go, consider that an average family uses a comparatively large amount of energy at any given time. As well, consider that most of that energy is delivered from power plants that make use of oil, natural gas or coal, which is especially dirty in most circumstances.

The most heartening thing about this particular issue is actually that it isn’t all that expensive — or even very difficult — to institute a couple of do-it-yourself projects around the home. Just log onto the Internet and go over the impressive number of resources that are available, including plans and instructions for how to build an energy-generating windmill as well as even solar panels.

Generally speaking, a well-working collection of solar panels can come in very handy because they not only can be used for the general water heating purposes in a household but the photovoltaic variety also helps to address the electrical energy needs in the home. Nowadays, panels can be as complicated as needed or as simple as desired, and they’re all coming down in price as technology becomes more common.

All of this is why it’s a good idea to take just a few minutes to start searching online for building plans (there are thousands of them, quite honestly) that can help with the construction of simple windmills and solar panels. For instance, a good windmill can be made easily and cheaply and it will usually cover the energy needs of a home. As well, building materials are available at every home improvement store.

By chaining together a wind power generation unit or two and then combining that particular green energy generation source with solar panels (all of which can be constructed very easily with the right set of instructions) a person can soon have his house operating in a very energy-efficient manner. No longer will someone be a slave to an electric company or a heating company and its rate hikes, happily.

There’s a very popular video website on the Internet that also has hundreds of videos dealing with how a person can set up his own green DIY energy system for a household or even for the wider community. Face it; our fossil fuel resources are dwindling, meaning that it’s also a fact that we’re going to need to move towards green energy technologies soon, which we (fortunately) have at our fingertips.

Did you know that building your own Green DIY Energy solar panels can be done for under $200? Click the link and get the video tutorials for building your own DIY solar panels for cheap.
