DIY solar power is quickly becoming the buzz word in environmental circles. Householders are becoming fed up with the problems that come with employing traditional energy sources.Fed up with rising costs, changes to the way we live and in some cases even being subjected to rationing, many home owners are looking toward the newest inovation in power production DIY Solar Power Kits.

Many of companies are currently now producing homemade energy instruction books, available via download over the net, which show you step-by-step instructions on how to assemble the materials for your own DIY solar power kits. The blueprints are priced around $40 – $60 and the components that make up the kit will come to a cost of around $200, much cheaper than buying and installing an off the shelf kit. (The expense may run into many thousands of dollars).

The instruction guides come as a instruction book as well as a video series that has simple to understand pictures, instructions and examples.

Having put together and implemented my own DIY Solar Power Kits, I can confirm that the project is an easy and pain free task, and the results in particular when it comes to saving money are fantastic.

The freedom a DIY solar Power Kit, allows you to feel that you are no longer tied the power company and their spiraling charges for your energy needs is an empowering one indeed. When was the last time you could leave a lounge room for an hour or so and leave the heater switched on without worry about cost or the effect you are having on the environment? As solar power is renewable and doesnt cost a dime you can now afford to be more free with your energy usage.

Most people use solar energy to supplement the power company supply, this gives them the flexibility to avoid power failures (very handy for staying connected online) and in particular in times of high heat and the power outages that come hand in hand, you will be able to stay cool by continuing to run fans as well as keep some air conditioning units running.

The Nomad 27M solar panel is a convenient source of power made in mono-crystalline solar technology. This particular product uses 27 watts of electricity, and is rechargeable in all types of weather. When it’s sunny, it can take as little as four and half-hours to recharge fully. When partly sunny, it takes up to 7 hours and 15 hours in overcast weather. These times may vary depending on the battery you are using. For instance, the Sherpa 120 will take 10, 17 and 36 hours in sunny, partly sunny and overcast weather respectively. Others like Ranger 350 will take 31, 45 and 100 hours to recharge fully in the three different types of weather respectively. This is not a long time to wait considering there are no bills to pay for the recharge!

Using mono-crystalline solar technology, the Nomad 27M solar panel is by all accounts an outstanding source of free electricity. Not only can the unit be charged during all types of weather, but it also pumps out a generous 27 watts. As far as charging the batteries are concerned, on can expect a full charge within as little as 4 to 5 hours, providing you have sunny conditions. Even when it’s only partly sunny, a full charge will usually take no longer than 7 hours, and if it’s completely overcast, 15 hours is usually adequate. With that said, the actual time it takes for the batteries to recharge fully does also depend on the type of batteries being used. Even though some batteries can take 30 or 40 hours to recharge during adverse weather, it’s not really much of an issue, considering you’re getting electricity with having to worry about bills.

Of course the biggest advantage of the Nomad 27M solar panel over the 13.5M panel is that the 27M produces a higher output, thereby making is more efficient. With that said, the 27M is also capable of storing energy for a greater length of time than the 13.5M version. Both models do however use the same 12V voltage for charging purposes, although the 27M utilizes an 18V open voltage circuit.

Nomad 27M solar panel comes with three support rods made of aluminum, which provide stability when charging. You can use them to hold the panel in place when charging outdoors. It also comes with four sturdy grommets, which enable you to hang the panel at different angles. If you are worried about the clutter connecting electronics often brings, then you don’t have to anymore. It has a built in pocket that holds the connector cord in place when charging your items. This prevents the danger of someone tripping over the cord and being injured. You can place it at a far corner or if there are children in the house, you can easily put it under a chair or under the bed.

The Nomad 27M solar panel is made from top quality material which is durable and hardwearing. This essentially means that once you’ve bought it, you’ll have for many, many years. The unit is also water resistant, so even if you leave it standing outside overnight, you don’t need to worry about it getting damaged if it rains. Rain and dew will have absolutely no affect on it at all, but if you know you won’t be using it for a while, then it is of course better to fold it up so that it can be safely stored away in the case provided.

Jordan Eske has been living eco friendly since 2008. And in 2009 he decided to help consumers go green too with solar power. The Nomad 27M Solar Panel is rising in popularity for adventurers. This article, The 27M Solar Panel Kit has free reprint rights.

Landlords – Slash Your Energy Expenses And Attract Green Tenants

July 22, 2010 by Craig Axelrod

If you are a landlord solar energy can help you slash your heating costs and attract green tenants to your buildings. Using the latest green technologies will allow you to reduce the amount of fuel or electricity you use to heat your property. Solar heating tubes can help you do this. Whether you are a residential landlord or a commercial landlord solar energy will help you attract an emerging clientele who are worried about their impact on the environment, for both practical and ideological reasons. As government regulations concerning energy usage becomes stricter, businesses are under increasing pressure to consider facilities which reduce emissions as much as possible. Even residential tenants are becoming interested in homes which make use of green energy supplies.

How Much Benefit Do Solar Heating Tubes Give?

The extent of the benefits you can receive by installing solar heating tubes will depend chiefly on what kind of heating system your building employs. Almost all buildings can receive the advantages of using the solar heating tubes to heat your building’s water. Owners of buildings that use radiant heat will further benefit by using the solar heating tubes to heat the building itself. In either case, the savings can be quite considerable, especially when factored over a protracted time period.

Solar heating tubes help you slash your heating costs even if your building is in a colder environment, or one that receives fewer days of direct sunshine than others. The cylindrical tubes are a relatively new development, and represent a a new take on the standard, flat solar panels which have been with us since the 1960s. The way the tubes are shaped allows them to be positioned so as to be in continuous contact with the sun’s rays, thus increasing their efficiency. Vacuum tubes are also used for optimal insulation purposes, making sure that very little of the harvested energy is lost until it is used to heat the building. The more energy efficient the system the less you have to rely on electricity or gas, which will ultimately affect your bottom line by cutting your heating costs.

Spend Today, Save Tomorrow

Even though solar technology is nothing new, and environmentally aware tenants have long encouraged building owners to find energy efficient, renewable sources for providing heat and electricity, the means for doing so is now available. If you want to slash your energy expenses and attract green tenants, you should strongly consider installing the most up-to-date solar heating tubes at your earliest convenience. With many of the world’s governments on board with renewable energy programs, and many of them promising big incentives for landlords green energy not only makes ethical and environmental sense, but financial sense too. Why wait?

One last word: even if it were not for the fact that installing solar heating tubes will save you money, and even if it wasn’t true that using green energy will open up an entirely new client base of green tenants to you, it is also the right thing to do. All steps towards renewable, non petroleum and coal dependant energy sources not only save you money, but help save the planet; and that, simply put, is just the right thing to do.

It’s easy to think of the electricity we use as something which is beyond our ability to supply for ourselves. The utility company has resources and expertise we don’t, we figure and even when it comes to installing alternative energy systems, most of us think of this as a difficult and complex task. However, you can install a wind generator by yourself without paying a fortune for a contractor.

Now, if this really was a complicated job, then it would be perfectly understandable to hire someone to do it. However, this really is an easy DIY project and there’s no need to go looking for a contractor to take care of this.

Since this whole project is about saving money, you need to make sure that you are doing everything possible to make that happen. While there are books and magazines on the subject matter, a lot of information can be easily found on the Internet. In fact, the web is full off various techniques and pointers that can make the installation job extremely easy.

Before getting started, you will want to make sure that you are looking into the various ways you can get help with the expense of the installation of wind generators. In some places, there are programs set up to reimburse homeowners for the installation of such devices.

This is to help encourage people to go green and to help save the planet. Now, reimburse does mean that you will have to front the money to complete the project but a portion of the amount you spend may be able to come back your way.

Also remember that if you are able to generate more renewable energy with your wind generator then you use, you can sell it back to the power plants for them to make use of. Of course, you cannot expect to get rich from such an adventure but that is not why anyone gets involved with generating electric through wind power.

The main goal is to provide your home with clean renewable energy that is not affecting the planet or the quality of air that we all take in. The next thing is to make sure that you are self sustaining and that you are off-grid. Off-grid means that you do not have to count on a company to have the energy you need to run your home and to survive. Creating your own energy source is a much better way of life.

In the long run, you will also save money, as you will not be sending so much money to the electric companies each month. In the end, you will find that you will have a lot of personal satisfaction from being off the grid and relying on your own sources for energy. If there is no reason to count on someone else or some company for everything, then why do it?

Generating Your Own Green Energy Now

The phrase green power has become quite pronounced recently as more and more people are beginning to truly realize the benefits of going green. While the term green with envy may come to mind for some people, what hits people first when Americans talk about green energy is the fact that it is a cost-reducing opportunity for anyone who uses electricity and other types of power.

Whether you drive your car, whether it’s a sixty mile commute each way every single day to work or once a month down to the local market, you burn energy. Most often in our current lifestyle energy comes in the form of foreign oil. A product of burning oil and gas is carbon emission, which is often believed responsible for the increase in global temperatures every year for recent memory.

Green power is rapidly becoming a household term and while most people still haven’t tried out its benefits into their daily lives, there is a growing list of potential uses that cannot be brushed aside any longer. Saving money is certainly the most important benefit to most people, especially in our financial situation.

People could potentially save five, ten, or even twenty dollars a day by switching to green energy. If you had ten dollars a day saved up, at the last day of one month that would be a savings of three hundred dollars! During the course of a year that total would then be $3,600. Maybe that amount doesn’t mean much to you, but for most people it can total more than a full month’s salary for millions of people.

Is it realistic? Absolutely. Green energy is becoming more important every day into households and areas that had been opposed or simply refused to consider it for years, and the people who are benefiting from it are benefiting in large quantities. The most normally thought of green energy sources are solar and wind energy. Trapping the power of the sun and the wind has been a fascination and goal of people for hundreds, and even thousands, of years.

These considerations aren’t new, but when automobiles became the primary mode of transportation during the twentieth century, oil turned into the main origin of energy resources. People didn’t consider when the oil ran out, and there would be no long-term consequences. People thought the same about coal, yet today those conceptions have long-been proven misleading.

Green energy is about clean, renewable energy, something that cannot be said about oil. The day that all of the oil runs out, there will be a need for some other source. Of course, this won’t happen in most of our lifetimes, but it is coming. The more vital point about green energy is that it is non-polluting. And efficient. Whenever you have a source of power that produces little or no harmful emissions, and will continue to provide year after year, then you have something that should become a routine for just about anyone.

    Building Solar Panels for Dummies!

April 20, 2010 by Zach Angelo

A revolutionary change is sweeping across the world and the U. S. As more and more people are generating energy naturally than through carbon generating methods. You too can learn how to build solar panels in your own home as an experiment to see how this renewable source of energy can cut down expenditure.

The advantage of this experiment is to learn about something first-hand what one has only read about. This way you will know what it is for yourself. And your entire family can participate too! To begin, head out to the hardware department.

Once there, buy half a square foot of a sheet of copper flashing, an electric stove, a large mouth bottle, glass or plastic (5 litre mineral jar), a sensitive micro-ammeter, few table spoons of table salt, tap water, sand paper or wire brush on an electric drill, metal shears and three alligator clip leads.

Next, heat stove on high and put copper sheet on it. The sheet will turn into an orange, purple, red or pink color; soon you will see these colors disappear and the sheet darkens. In this manner, the sheet should be BAKED for 30 minutes.

Once this is complete, let the sheet cool off without inducing the cooling process. It will be seen that the sheet is getting smaller. Flaking of the chemical deposits will be seen at this point.

As soon as it cools down entirely, it should be held under a tap of running water to allow the flakes to fall off. This has to be done with ease and a gentle touch so as not to hurt the SOLAR PANEL.

Run water over it from a running tap after it cools down. This will wash off the flakes but ensure you do this really gently and do not erode this SOLAR PANEL created by you.

Now, attach your clip leads, one to the new copper plate, and one to the COOKED one. The clean sheet should be attached to the positive side of the meter and the cooked one to the negative.

Stir many table spoons of salt into hot tap water and ensure it dissolves entirely. Empty this mixture into the bottle while ensuring that the clip heads remain dry. Allow the sheets to be above water for up to an inch. Your first homemade solar battery is complete!

The cell produces 50 micro amps at 0.25 volts. Do not expect to light bulbs to light or charge batteries with this device. It can be used as a light detector or light meter and it would take acres of them to power your house which would be very expensive.

You can build your solar panels this weekend! Find the step-by-step video guides at the Green DIY Energy Review. Stop paying for your energy Green DIY Energy guide.

    Alternative Energy Solutions

April 16, 2010 by Andrew McGregor

Alternative energy is energy derived in such a way that it does not harm the environment or the fuel sourced that it relies on. The debate against common energy solutions such as fossil fuels (petroleum, coal, etc.) that are in use today is an old one. They harm the environment and are a cause of pollution, whereas on the other hand they are non-reusable, that is that they would eventually run out as we have a limited supply of them and they cannot be replaced, hence the need for alternative energy solutions.

    Large number of alternative energy solutions has been identified by the scientists and researchers of the world and they have been trying to improve the quality and methods of production of energy from them for so long. Some of solutions which have been put into practice are as follows;

Wind power. Wind power harvests the wind and converts it into electricity. This is done by using wind generators such as turbines etc. Wind turbines are basically large fans which rotate due to wind and then their kinetic energy is converted into electricity. Large farms of wind turbines are being used to generate electricity successfully around the world. Floating wind farms in the middle of the sea are now being tested as they can harvest more wind without any obstructions such as hills, etc.

Biomass or Biogas is the fuel obtained from plants and organic matter available in the earth and they are produced by first transforming them into briquettes and then by burning them to a specific form in a specialized boiler. They produce heat and generate methane when treated with an anaerobic environment of bacterial decomposition. The heat is then used to run turbines and generators which produce electricity and the natural gas or the methane gas produced can be used as a cooking fuel. Biomass, which is the resultant quantity of the process, will function as a cleaner.

Solar Energy. Solar energy uses the sun to produce electricity. Solar panels gather sunlight efficiently and then use it to heat up water which can be utilized to generate energy. The electricity generated by solar energy can be stored in batteries as backup for night and cloudy days. Solar energy and wind power can be combined together to provide an unbroken supply of electricity.

April 14, 2010 by Zach Angelo

With all the emphasis on green products today, green DIY energy makes sense. Do-it-yourself green energy is a way to generate electricity yourself using the power of the sun or the wind. The technology for photovoltaic cells has existed for years, but it has only been in the last three or four decades that the solar panels have become widely accepted. Solar panels are becoming more powerful and more efficient all the time, but many homeowners have been reluctant to purchase them because of the high initial cost.

Solar panels combine individual cells in a frame and connect to your household power grid to provide energy to run the lights, appliances and equipment. Solar energy is available on the entire surface of the earth, but so far, converting the light into energy has not been as efficient as hoped. Only twenty percent of the available light is actually converted into energy.

Windmills have been around for decades. The wind that drives a windmill is virtually unlimited. If you reside in a windy area, it is likely that you could use wind power for some or all of your energy needs. The advantage of wind power over solar is that the wind blows day and night, but the sun only provides direct conversion during the daylight hours.

More people today are choosing to get part or all of their power from wind sources or from solar energy. There is increasing recognition that fossil fuel sources are being exhausted, at least in parts of the world. What is now encouragement to switch to alternative energy sources may eventually become a requirement.

Learning the efficient way to utilize energy takes some research, both to put the right hardware to use and to find the systems information you will need. Look to the Internet for plenty of ideas about energy generation at home. Clear and simple instructions for building or hooking up alternative power sources are available.

You may want to research the subject of how to do an energy audit for your home. This definition of where you are using or wasting energy in your household can be helpful in determining where your true energy needs are. A combination of replacing fossil fuel energy with solar or wind energy where possible and making better use of the utility company sources can reduce your energy costs. It will also help to reduce global energy use.

Green DIY energy can lower the price for implementing non-fossil fuel energy sources in your residence or business. You can lower costs by reducing the use of energy and by replacing utility company energy with home captured hardware. Both solar energy and wind energy sources can be tapped using simple techniques and construction methods.

The Great Points of Using Renewable Energy in Your Home

    April 12, 2010 by admin

Have you ever pondered the benefits of using renewable energy for your home? Do you contemplate your personal advantages, or the perks of the big blue marble, Earth? There are blessings from both perspectives.

From the personal level, there is the obvious benefit of money. It is possible to sometimes generate more energy than you need, and sell it to the power company causing your meter to run backwards, reducing your bill.

Pondering on a planetary scale, it’s impossible not to consider the wars, related to oil, despite what politicians may tell us. The insanity of the mightiest countries in the world, risking their stability to quench their obsessive thirst for the thick black liquid, boggles the mind. If renewable energy could meet our home energy requirements, wars could end, or just not start. That must be the biggest impetus to getting serious about solar power.

We could make the air we breath a lot cleaner and safer, not only for us, but for our families to be, for generations to come. People would be healthier and cancer and illness would be drastically reduced.

Of all the ways to create power, nuclear energy is the most insane. If aliens exist they must be laughing at our stupidity. The danger nuclear power plants pose, and the taxpayer subsidies they require, make them a mistake beyond belief. Yet for the first time in decades, the United States is planning on building more. Solar based energy powering our homes would make it obvious that more nuclear plants should never be built.

Think back to your high school physics class; specifically thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics told us that the amount of energy stays the same. It can not be created or destroyed. The second law, the entropy law says that it can change forms, and the natural progression is to change into a less available form. Oil based energy is like accelerating the entropy law many times over.

But then you look at solar based, green, renewable energy, and you feel like the entropy law took a vacation. We can actually go with the natural flow of energy and use it over and over without much in the way of cost or harm. Whether it’s geothermal or wind or straight from sunlight, or even from the flow of water; the benefits of using renewable energy in our home are for individuals right here and billions of neighbors on the planet. They are felt now and generations from now. They influence our bodies and our financial affairs. The benefits are direct, as well as complex.

Everyone is looking for cheap and easy ways to green our homes. Daily, we consume energy mainly coming from fossil fuels. A small percentage is created through renewable energy sources. You will see that it is much easier to build green DIY energy for the home than you might have thought.

We could easily continue to do simple things to reduce our energy consumption: turn off the lights when leaving a room, turn the faucet off while brushing teeth, replacing light bulbs with LEDs or fluorescent bulbs. But this will eventually not be enough. You can undertake a larger green project, and easily do it yourself.

With the right tools, anyone can build a solar panel or wind turbine. It is still very expensive to purchase these technologies at retail price. After installation, a family make incur costs over ten thousand dollars in the attempt to go green. If you use the do it yourself plans which are available, and a positive attitude, the same clean technologies can be yours for a whole lot less.

After adding wind or solar power, you will see substantial price decreases in the cost of your energy. You are also reducing your personal emissions. Information is easy to get about green DIY projects. Home improvement stores should carry guidebooks about these topics, and they may even offer do it yourself workshops for free or for a small fee. Popular specialty magazines and books will also be a great resource in creating your own renewable energy at home.

The easiest, and maybe the fastest way to get this information, is online. Many companies are offering tutorials to help you build clean energy solutions. These companies offer guidebooks with instructions and information to complete the project of your choice. If you can, see if the manual includes step by step plans, clear instructions, and simple directions. Also see if it will tell you where to purchase the materials you will need for the project, and basic electrical information about how to safely connect the renewable energy source to the home.

Also look to see if the guide gives you information about how the taxes work for homes with renewable energy components. After completing your project, you may be eligible for a tax credit or a tax rebate. If the guide does not include this information, contact a tax professional or a representative from the energy department to answer your questions.

By using sustainable energy for your home, you will see immediate benefits. Your energy bills will decrease as you use your clean energy more and you may be able to get rid of your dirty energy provider all together. We can all take advantage of these projects to reduce our need for fossil fuels.

If you contemplate the benefits of using renewable energy for your home, are you thinking about yourself, or of the spaceship you live on, called Earth? There are gains to be made on both levels.

From an intimate perspective, there’s an immediate financial advantage. You can stay connected to the grid for when you need it, but other times have more energy than you require, and sell it to the local utility, greatly reducing your bill.

From a more grand point of view, the obvious subject that comes to mind is the wars, that we all know have a lot to do with oil. Mighty nations allow their very security to be threatened by this dependence on crude oil. Green energy handling our home power needs has the potential to stop and prevent wars. Can there be a larger motivation to go green than that?

We could make the air we breath a lot cleaner and safer, not only for us, but for our families to be, for generations to come. People would be healthier and cancer and illness would be drastically reduced.

Of all the ways to create power, nuclear energy is the most insane. If aliens exist they must be laughing at our stupidity. The danger nuclear power plants pose, and the taxpayer subsidies they require, make them a mistake beyond belief. Yet for the first time in decades, the United States is planning on building more. Solar based energy powering our homes would make it obvious that more nuclear plants should never be built.

Do you recall your high school physics? The first law of thermodynamics taught us that energy can not be created or destroyed. The entropy law (the second law) showed us that energy can be transferred, but each time, it winds down into a less useful form. Our current energy policy on Earth, based on fossil fuels is a high entropy option. It’s almost the worse possible use of our energy.

Green energy, though, is almost like a respite, or pause in the entropy law. At the very least, it is an extremely low entropy energy policy that we really need to transition to. Solar based energy can be direct from the sun, derived from the motion of water, or from geothermal activity or wind. No matter what method you choose, the benefits of using renewable energy for your home are felt in your community and your planet, currently and later in time. They affect your well being and your finances. They are easy to understand, yet very deep.

Americans consume about 24 percent of the world’s energy despite constituting only 5 percent of the population of the world. It is time to start reaping in the benefits of using renewable energy for your home and doing your bit for the environment and saving money.

If you cannot afford installing solar panels on your roof, there are other possibilities. Your backyard is a goldmine of resources and you can create your own little fruit and vegetable farm right there. And it makes sense too as these will be 100 percent organic as compared to the products out there.

On the other hand, if you have the means to put a solar panel at home go ahead and do it. In India, Tibetan monks staying in monasteries generate their power from solar panels. This they have done to cut dependency on anyone and contribute to saving the earth.

When it comes to water consumption, the U. S. Citizen needs 159 gallons on an average per day! The average person in the rest of the world just requires 25 gallons.

Learning how to harvest rain water is simple and one can find details about this in local reading rooms, asking environmentalists and even on the web.

Ration out your usage of the car, bicycle wherever possible. This way you stay fit, cut down on fuel bills and save the environment from more carbon dioxide pollution.

The American public eats 815 billion calories of food on an average daily. This is 200 billion calories more than their required intake such that the excess can feed another 80 million mouths.

Eating meat can be avoided, instead become a vegetarian or eat meat less. Such a move can cut down your grocery expenditure somewhat.

Do not throw away leftover food. It can be had the next day or can be given away to people who might not have the privilege of a meal. Helping people is always a good thing.

Data on American lifestyle shows that the average person wastes 200,000 tons of good food daily. In the same way, people accumulate over 50 tons of waste by the time they die. The science of Vermiculture can be adopted by every household to reap the benefits of using renewable energy for your home.

Making Use Of Green DIY Energy Concepts

March 25, 2010 by Zach Angelo

Creating a “greener” world through green DIY energy projects is not only possible but it’s probably an imperative, given that the world is running out of non-renewable fossil fuel energy resources. By taking advantage of efficient “green” technologies in a number of do it yourself (DIY) projects, people can gradually wean themselves from fossil fuels while also helping to clean up the environment.

If anybody needs any convincing that maybe completing a few do-it-yourself green energy conservation projects should be the way to go, consider that an average family uses a comparatively large amount of energy at any given time. As well, consider that most of that energy is delivered from power plants that make use of oil, natural gas or coal, which is especially dirty in most circumstances.

The most heartening thing about this particular issue is actually that it isn’t all that expensive — or even very difficult — to institute a couple of do-it-yourself projects around the home. Just log onto the Internet and go over the impressive number of resources that are available, including plans and instructions for how to build an energy-generating windmill as well as even solar panels.

Generally speaking, a well-working collection of solar panels can come in very handy because they not only can be used for the general water heating purposes in a household but the photovoltaic variety also helps to address the electrical energy needs in the home. Nowadays, panels can be as complicated as needed or as simple as desired, and they’re all coming down in price as technology becomes more common.

All of this is why it’s a good idea to take just a few minutes to start searching online for building plans (there are thousands of them, quite honestly) that can help with the construction of simple windmills and solar panels. For instance, a good windmill can be made easily and cheaply and it will usually cover the energy needs of a home. As well, building materials are available at every home improvement store.

By chaining together a wind power generation unit or two and then combining that particular green energy generation source with solar panels (all of which can be constructed very easily with the right set of instructions) a person can soon have his house operating in a very energy-efficient manner. No longer will someone be a slave to an electric company or a heating company and its rate hikes, happily.

There’s a very popular video website on the Internet that also has hundreds of videos dealing with how a person can set up his own green DIY energy system for a household or even for the wider community. Face it; our fossil fuel resources are dwindling, meaning that it’s also a fact that we’re going to need to move towards green energy technologies soon, which we (fortunately) have at our fingertips.

Interesting Facts On Green DIY Energy

March 11, 2010 by Zach Angelo

Green DIY Energy is a great way to save money and the environment at the same time. There is only so much nonrenewable energy like coal and oil on the planet available. These types of energies are harmful to the environment both as they are used and extracted from the earth. Green energy is the future of efficiently powering the world.

Green energy is a great choice simply because it will never run out. It does not harm the environment, and when compared to existing energy systems, it is very economical. Fossil fuels such as oil and coal are very similar to renewable energy in terms of how it is used. Unlike renewable energy, fossil fuels must be harvested and burned before turned into a usable resource.

The use of fossil fuels has caused the degeneration of the environment as a whole. While they were originally used in moderation, the explosion of the earth’s population has led to severe pollution. To use renewable energy, all one needs is to employ readily available natural resources. Water, wind and the sun are the largest sources for green energy.

Solar energy, wind energy, and vegetable oil fuel have been used successfully to create alternative energy sources for years now. While solar energy and wind energy come from naturally occurring resources, vegetable oil fuel is slightly different. Used cooking oil is used in modified automobiles to power them instead of gasoline. None of these power methods contribute to further polluting the environment.

The single biggest deterrent of using alternative renewable energy is that is that it can be very expensive to install. The best solution is to select a power method and doing it yourself. Money can be saved in the beginning as well as overall by employing this method. Many new methods are being discussed and developed in the environmental industry.

While completing a green energy project yourself is rewarding, safety cannot be overlooked. These types of projects can potentially be dangerous if the right steps are not taken. Some power systems are placed on the roof and manipulating existing electricity systems is almost always needed. Make sure that all standard safety precautions are taken.

Nonrenewable energy usage will come to an end in the future. Its use has already greatly impacted the environment in a bad way. The demands of an expanding population simply will not be able to continue to use it as they did before. If more people start to make the transition to green energy today, the environment can sustain itself that much longer.

Green DIY Energy not only saves money but helps the environment. By using green energy, carbon dioxide emissions are reduced, therefore helping in the fight against global warming. The main types of green energy that are used by consumers are solar and wind-powered.

Green energy saves homeowners a lot of money by reducing monthly energy bills. State and federal government also provide rebates and tax incentives for using these types of power. DIY kits for solar panel or wind turbine installation can save the homeowner even more money by not having to pay for professional installation.

Homeowners should carefully choose their Green DIY Energy kit. Instructions can be intimidating for people without much home improvement experience. However, many kits are very good, and provide detailed installation explanation. Do it yourself installation further increases energy savings.

Solar DIY kits are easiest to use when they are for a specific purpose. Most good kits have all necessary parts, thorough instructions and clear diagrams. They also provide an alternative plan during darkness or cloudy days, when it is difficult to generate enough power. Modular kits are most valuable. As energy needs increase, another kit can be purchased and easily connected to the originally installed solar energy source.

Solar energy is the most popular source of green power. They can be described as large panels with smaller plates that collect sunlight, converting it to energy. Solar panels do not operate on heat, but Solar panels are the most popular source of green power. They can be described as large panels with smaller plates that collect sunlight, converting it to energy. Solar panels do not operate on heat, but the amount of light received. Therefore during winter days, which are frequently overcast and are shorter, solar panels do not generate as much energy. In contrast, during summer months, extra solar power runs the electrical meter backward, generating even more homeowner savings.

Wind power is another popular form of green energy. Wind turbines change the wind’s kinetic energy to power compatible with a home’s electrical system. It is also connected to the power grid, and on days when an excess of wind power is produced, it is sold back to the electrical utility.

Green DIY energy is rapidly becoming more popular. A huge amount of resources exists, in the form of general information to DIY kits. Homeowners should carefully select the right DIY kit for them, however most are relatively simple. Often when we hear the terms green diy energy, we think of electricity for the home. It is also possible to produce your own DIY Green Energy for your automobile. This is sustainable energy that produce fewer pollutants than conventional fuels. For gasoline burning vehicles, this often involves production of ethanol. For diesel vehicles, biodiesel can be produced from a large variety of sources.

Ethanol is produced from many different fruits and vegetables. Since this is also drinking alcohol, you will need special permits to produce your own fuel. Yeast is added to the fruit and vegetable sugars to convert the sugar to alcohol. Low temperature vacuum fermentation and distillation allows the producer to get the most out of the sugar from the vegetable matter that is being fermented. If the alcohol is blended with normal gasoline, it can be used in a vehicle with no adjustments to the engine and without harm. Although the alcohol will burn straight in the engine, this could cause damage to your vehicle.

Biodiesel can be made from many different sources. It is an excellent use for waste fryer grease from restaurants and other sources, but can also be produced from any oil producing crop. Since biodiesel contains less sulfur than other types of diesel so it is a greener alternative.

In order to produce your own fuel from scratch, you will need to have enough room to grow a crop that produces sugar for ethanol or oil for biodiesel. This normally will require a few acres of ground. Additionally you will need to have the correct equipment to produce those fuels.

In some areas there are cooperatives that share in the cost of producing the fuel. These can be an effective way to prepare your own fuel.

If you happen to be the owner of an electric vehicle, then you may be able to use solar panels or a wind turbine to charge the vehicle. This will essentially allow you to use your electric vehicle at no cost.

Each of these methods of producing you own energy are both sustainable and green. They produce little to no pollutants and can actually improve the environment by lowering the carbon dioxide content of the air or making use of items that would normally be disposed in landfills.

Green diy energy no longer has to remain for the energy to power your home, now it can transport you from one point to another and actually help to improve our environment.

Learning How To Build A Wind Generator Is Easier Than You Might Think

March 6, 2010 by Kevin Hughes

You live your life every day fully dependent on energy, mainly gas and electricity. But with the constantly rising costs of these energy sources, you might be wondering how you can cut back on these expenses and make your life a little easier. You likely already know about renewable energy and that it is being used around the world. But how do you take advantage of this without spending a fortune? You might want to consider building a windmill, but do you know how to build a wind generator?

Good question. Here are some tips to guide you:

    - Location, location, location. You will need an open area with at least a three hundred to four hundred foot radius. You also need to watch for any obstacles overhead since the tower can reach 30 to 40 feet high. A tilt-up tower is best for low areas since they are closer to the ground. This also makes them easier to maintain. However, a free standing tower will maximize the output since it is taller and has fewer obstructions.

    - Next up on your list are the materials you are going to use. You can start with a high voltage, low current DC motor that runs at low rpm’s. This is the heart of the unit that will convert the wind into electrical current.

    - Then comes the blades of the wind generator, which can be carved from plastic, wood, sheet metal or you could also use PVC pipes. Note that the longer the blades are, the wider its swept area covered, meaning the more power it can extract from the wind.

    - Now you need to connect the blades to the motor using a hub. One of the simplest ways is to look for a scrap steel disk that you can drill holes in. Attach this to a shaft that will connect the blades.

    - Finally, you need to attach a tail and pivot to your windmill to keep it turned to the wind. You can do this with some square tubing and pipe nipple, a flange for the pivot, and some scrap sheet metal for the tail.

    - One last, important step to cover for your wind generator is the battery. The wind doesn’t always blow, so you need a way to store the converted energy. Try to keep the batteries as close to the generator as you can in order to monitor the charging. Try to get batteries that are highly efficient, yet low maintenance.

“Deep cycle” batteries are best used for this type of power system application. They are rated in amp-hours and have indicators of their charge-discharge cycles.

In knowing how to build a wind generator it’s best to remember that placing a diode between the battery and the generator is good in order to prevent the energy from being wasted and flowing directly onto the generator itself. Adding a secondary load is helpful as a depot for excess energy produced.
