Covering an estimated 4.5 hectares, it will consist of a copra warehouse, copra milling section, coconut oil refinery section, copra cake section, storage tanks, administration offices and port facility. The second phase is the construction of the Coconut bio-diesel plant and Coconut shell charcoal processing plant and will cover another 4.5 hectares of land.

The bio-fuel power project is one way of solving the problem of climate change because the use of coconut bio-diesel will contribute to the decline of green house gas emissions in the atmosphere.

Get More Money By Using Less Energy In The House

If you had a boat with a leak in it, wouldn’t you want to improve it before you sink? Well, your home may be the titanic without you even knowing it. With money tight these days, and every day for that matter, you may be looking for small things to do save a small bit here and there. There are things you can do right at home to save energy, thus saving money. Some of the things that are often overlooked can be huge money savers.

First of all, place yourself together. No, I don’t mean comb your hair and change your underwear. I mean get some stuff you will need for your project together. I like to place everything in a 5 gallon bucket if possible. These make fantastic tool and supply carriers because they are a excellent size and have a handle. Regular toolboxes work fantastic for tools, but not so much for carrying around bulky items.

Start by getting a tube of caulk, caulk gun, duck tape, electrical tape, light socket covers, energy efficient bulbs, pipe wrenches, crescent wrenches, vice grips, screwdrivers, expandable foam insulation, and window insulation strips. This will give you the rudimentary tools needed to do a house repair.

Then, you want to go around your house and make a paper list of the stuff you want to fix. Write down or diagram every hole, crack, fissure, gaping hole, etc. you see around your house that may be letting in air from the outside. Look for ancient fashion light bulbs that can be updated. Look for leaks small and huge in any pipes or fixtures. Look for appliances that are rarely used that are still plugged in. Pay special attention to windows as they can be huge energy suckers.

Caulk around windows or fill cracks in existing caulk. Replace all those antique light bulbs with florescent compact bulbs. Tighten and loose connections on plumbing that may be allowing water to leak. Patch any holes using the right type of material. If you have wood floors, you may be able to use wood filler or replace the hurt piece. If you have cracks in the foundation, you could patch them with concrete filler if they are not too huge. But if more extensive hurt is detected, better to get a contractor to see what is going on so the problem doesn’t get worse.

Insulation is probably the largest area for improvement. It is so cheap, and can make a huge difference in energy costs, so why not use it? Place insulation around windows and doors, place insulators behind light switch covers on outside walls, and certainly wrap your water heater in a blanket, as this is a cheap way to save money. Reckon also about adding more insulation to your attic. I have seen people practically fill their attics to the top with it. I wouldn’t suggest that, but you certainly need a excellent layer to keep out the nasty heat in summer and cold in the winter. Reckon about wrapping your heating ducts as well in insulation as this will also help.

Then do all the small areas. Disconnect that alarm clock in the guest bedroom that you only use three days a year. Turn your refrigerator temp down a degree or two if it is plenty cold. In the early month of 2009, a new type of strain from the well known virus H1N1 started to spread. Even though one should be aware of such a virus, it is not really the time to start to panic.. In late April 2009 officials from both WHO and the CDC expressed serious concern about the spread of the virus, stating that the virus had the potential to become flu pandemic. A pandemic is the spread of a disease over a large area such as an entire country, continent or the entire world. Due to the newness of the influenza strain, its transmission from human to human, and the unusually high mortality rate in Mexico the WHO formally determined the situation to be a “public health emergency of international concern.

This disease is different from other illness because unlike cases such as chicken pox, human will never be able to become completely immune to the swine flu since it constnatly changing and producing new version of itself as the time passes. The only thing that people should do at the moment is take all the usual hygiene procedure and follow them to the letter – wash hands, cover mouth when sneezing, etc – and visit their doctor if they feel that are getting the flu. The only thing that they should not do is panic.

It is said that even if no actions were taken to delay the flu, by the end of May, there would only be around one thousand seven hundred cases of this flu in the US. Also, it should be the case that by the end of fall, the flu may reappear, but by this time, authorities, should be able to have the measures available to fight this flu.

The WFP says it’s currently facing a half-billion dollar shortfall to meet ‘existing assessed needs.’

Vietnam to go unplugged for Earth Hour

Residents in Vietnam and at least 74 other countries will turn out their lights for one

hour as part of an international campaign against climate change next month.

Initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the third annual Earth Hour will last from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on
March 28. “Vietnam is one of the top five countries in the world most at risk from a forecasted rise in sea level, which
is an impact of global warming,” said Ho Thanh Lan of WWF Vietnam in Hanoi.

“Earth Hour aims to educate the global community about the threat of climate change and how simple it is for individuals and
businesses to makesmall changes to the way they live and operate,” she said.

“Those small changes will make a huge difference.”

Lan said WWF Vietnam would work to get local organizations and households involved through volunteer teams
set to visit offices and schools to clarify the campaign and spread awareness.

She said the agency would also question for help from local authorities in spreading the word.

The event will be advertised on banners along city streets two weeks beforehand, said Lan.

Millions of people in some 1,000 cities across the globe are expected to turn off their lights and electric appliances for
Earth Hour this year, according to the event’s website.

“The effects of climate change caused by carbon emissions pose the greatest threat to life on Earth and only by changing
the world’s collective attitude towards the use of carbon-emitting energy sources can we alleviate this threat,” said
a statement on the Earth Hour website www.earthhour.com.

Earth Hour 2009 hopes to deliver a global mandate for environmental reform to world leaders attending the UN Conference
for Climate Change in Copenhagen in December to strike up a new global climate deal to usurp Kyoto, said the website.

The first Earth Hour in Sydney on March 31, 2007 saw over two million people and two thousand businesses across the city
 turn off their lights and appliances for one hour.

In 2008, around 50 million people across 35 countries turned off their lights in support of Earth Hour, the website said.

A one-meter rise in the sea level would affect approximately 5 percent of Vietnam’s land area, 11 percent of the population
and 7 percent of agriculture, while reducing the national Yucky Domestic Product (GDP) by 10 percent, said the
VietNam News report.

Recently, WWF reported climate change would increase flooding and cause water shortages along the coast of the
Greater Mekong Sub-Region – including Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and China’s Yunnan Province
– over the next two decades.

The WWF study, Assessing the Implications of Climate Change at the Provincial Level in Ca Mau of Vietnam and
Krabi of Thailand, also emphasized the urgent need for regional governments to tackle the impending effects of climate change.

The southernmost province faces the threat of widespread flooding and increased salinity in its freshwater due to storms and
rising sea levels over the next 25 years.

Early last month, Vietnam launched the National Target Program on Climate Change to protect the nation from the
effects of climate change.

The VND1.96 trillion (US$112.44 million) program will fund technology development and increase the capacity of local
environmental agencies by training more environmental specialists.
