Solar Panels for the Home: Myths You Shouldn’t Believe

With the popularity of green energy and especially solar power lately, more people than ever before are becoming interested in creating their own solar panels and going “off the grid.” But there are a lot of myths and misinformation out there about what you can really do with these solar panels, how much they cost, and how much in dollars they can shave off your electricity bill.

The first, and biggest, myth of all is that solar panels are extremely expensive. This is only true if you buy them through a large company and get a professional installation service – if you do that, it might cost over $20,000 to take your house completely “off the grid”!

Assuming you do it yourself, though, you can get the same great results at a fraction of the price with 2 different but equally viable approaches.

Method #1: Buy broken or not 100% functional solar panels, either on eBay, from solar manufacturing companies, or by calling local places like your hardware store or even the highway patrol.

Why highway patrol? Well, solar panels are used along many highways in the US, and traffic accidents often result in broken solar panels – so this can be a great source for making your home 100% green. And it’s something not too many people know about.

Another method: you can buy the individual solar cells from eBay or from your local hardware store, and then assemble everything yourself. These cells are very cheap, but they don’t function at 100% – and it will take a few days to assemble everything.

The second big myth about solar panels for the home is that you can completely eliminate your electric bill with them, all the time. This is nice to think about, but the truth is more complicated than that.

One big problem with this is that not everyone lives in the ideal area for solar power – if you’re in Alaska, or your house is in the shade, you’ll have a tough time extracting much power from your solar panels.

But even without that, the average house would require solar panels with the capacity for thousands of kilowatts to go 100% “off the grid.” And if you use air-conditioning, you’ll need double what the typical home would require.

However, even if you don’t make your electric bill vanish, you can still greatly reduce it. And if you build multiple solar panels or also use wind turbines, you really can take your bill to $0.

The third myth is that do-it-yourself solar panels will fall apart easily, or are very fragile. Don’t get me wrong – nothing lasts forever, and solar panels are no exception.

It starts with proper construction: prevent moisture from getting in by using silicone, and then use flexi-glass on the outside to prevent water, dust, and debris from settling on top.

And then there’s maintenance – you need to clean your panels, check the wiring, and clean out moisture at least once a year. Do this, and your solar panels will last for years and power your house long into the future.

Go Green With Home Solar Power

May 31, 2009 by Gogreen

The supply of energy from traditional energy sources such as oil, gas and coal is in decline and as a result, it’s imperative that we switch more and more to sources of renewable energy, both for domestic and industrial use. For the purposes of this article, I will look at the prospect of solar power for an average-sized family home. More and more families are turning to renewable sources of energy, such as solar power, to supply their requirements. And it’s hardly surprising – it’s clean and inexpensive. It is not very difficult to set up such a system, and it will pay for itself many times over.

The lack of sunshine, especially in many parts of the British Isles, has been cited as a reason why it would not be practical. But the great thing about having a solar power system in conjunction with a typical energy supply, is that it can be stored in special batteries and used as required. For places with an abundance of sunshine, the concept of “net metering” comes into play. This is where you have an agreement with the electricity supply company, that whatever extra energy is generated by your solar power system, can be sold back to them. Your electricity meter will actually run backward, and this will be credited to you.

One of the main attractions of solar home energy is of course that it is freely available, it occurs naturally and it is a resource that is just waiting to be “tapped into” with the correct equipment.

It is possible to build such a system for $200 or less. With a little know-how, and a reasonably good DIY ability, you could conceivably build such a system over the course of a weekend. And the raw materials you will need should be available in your local hardware store. It’s no wonder really, that so many people are turning to this source of energy. It is very satisfying to be able to power your own home using solar energy.

There are many arguments in favour of building such a system – one thing I like about wind power is that it’s so “green” – there is no smoke, no waste material to worry about. And of course you can store the energy you produce in batteries, which are possible to obtain for no charge.
Without doubt, the savings that can be achieved are one of the main attractions for a Home Solar Power System. It is estimated that it could reduce your energy bill by 80% – or even eliminate it completely. In difficult economic times, it’s one of the main attractions of solar. And once it is up and running, it will not need a great deal of maintenance, and it should not be costly to run.

It has already been implemented by by thousands and I’m sure the trend will continue. Another good thing about producing solar power, is that it is of course helping in the fight against global warming, and helping to reduce our “carbon footprint”.

Solar power has been around for a long time and it is a dependable source for generating power . It has now become accessible for the average family and I believe that this and other sources of Green Home Power will be used more and more by people in our neighbourhoods, as people realise how beneficial it is.

How To Save Energy: A Guide to Renewable Energies

May 29, 2009 by admin

Consumers, businesses, and organizations may purchase green energy in order to support further development, help reduce the environmental impacts of conventional electricity generation, and increase their nation’s energy independence. Green Energy Products is a full service consultancy and sales business specializing in, you guessed it, green energy products. We all understand that going green is no longer simply a life-style choice – its a societal responsibility and an economic reality that we all must face.

Green energy’s end-products include PV modules and PV systems in different sizes and power outputs. It sells PV modules under its own brand name, Yingli, to PV system integrators and distributors located in various markets around the world, including Germany, Spain, China, Italy and the United States. Green Energy does not undertake any obligation to update any forward-looking statement as a result of new information, future events or otherwise, except as required under applicable law.

Instead, they may turn their attention to more capital-efficient companies. Instead of looking the other way, we should be looking carefully at the results of any analysis as the explanation would be interesting.any way you look at it. Instead of promoting electric automobiles they should be promoting high speed rail and rapid transit. This gives people more time to use google’s services instead of wasting their time driving while providing truly sustainable and better transportation.

Truthfully, the only difference between you and clean energy experts is time. If you’ll invest a little more time in reading, you’ll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to clean energy.

Renewables – with the exception of biofuels – will substantially reduce gasoline/diesel only when significant numbers of the automobiles are powered by electricity – probably 10-15 years at the earliest. This confusion of energies (“electrons versus liquids” as one pundit puts it) has muddied debate on energy issues for years.

Wind Energy – Another ancient source of power, wind energy has been harnessed by sailors, farmers and architects for many years, even documented as far back as 5,000 years ago. The energy coming from the wind supercharges the blades of the wind turbines. Windmills and Nuclear power plants will not actually LOWER the concentration. Nature has a solution for us though, photosynthesis.

But organic matter is added to the plants extend nearly as far below ground as above. And with its network of stems and roots, holding on to soil even in winter to prevent erosion. But demand keeps growing and the output from some of SVP’s older geothermal fields is expected to decline.

Those who only know one or two facts about clean energy can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here.

Why Should you Care About Renewable Energy?

May 27, 2009 by Alexis Jameson

For the various countries in the world to keep functioning energy is required. Traditionally non-renewable sources of energy have been used to power industries. However much of this is now reduced and renewable energy is much preferred method of power. Here are the reasons why everyone should be concerned about renewable energy.

Savings can be made from turning to renewable energy sources. Using source of energy which are not renewable means that you have to pay for them every time you use them. By switching to using a renewable source of energy fuel bills can be drastically reduced. In fact, the only thing that an individual or business will have to pay for is the means of generating renewable energy.

The natural resources of the world will not be consumed as quickly if people are using renewable energy. Over time gas, coal and oil are all being run down and this will lead to them becoming non-existent. Supplies of these naturally occurring substances are not infinite and eventually they will completely run out. Using energy sources which are renewable puts a stop to this happening.

People are concerned about maintaining clean air for future generations need to consider renewable energy. As many other forms of generating energy creates harmful gases which go into the atmosphere they are not seen as safe. Everyone enjoys breathing fresh air and by sticking to renewable energy the air will remain clean.

People who are worried about the dangerous by products of generating energy don’t have to worry about renewable energy. Harnessing the power of the wind, the sun or water does not in any way compromise anyone’s health.

Renewable sources of energy will not run out. The sea will always ebb and flow creating waves, and the sun will always shine and the wind will always blow. However the same cannot be said about sources of energy which are not renewable. In fact if humans on earth keep consuming fossil fuels at the same rate they will soon be none left.

Global warming will be drastically reduced by using renewable energy. People all over the world should be very concerned about the effects of global warming are having. It is causing animals and plants like to die out and it is changing the climate of the world. To put a stop to this carbon emissions need to be reduced and using renewable sources of energy is a step in the right direction.

Most people would rather think about renewable energy rather than nuclear power. This is due to the potentially harmful situations that nuclear generators can create. Chernobyl being a case in point. Instead of living in fear of what nuclear power can do the majority of people would rather rely on renewable sources of energy.

The points above are just a few reasons why everyone should care about renewable energy. Not only is it much safer than many of the other forms of generating energy, it is also better for the planet. Anyone who cares about fossil fuels and protecting themselves and others should realise that renewable energy is the way to go.

The Perfect Alternative Electric Energy Source Is Available Today

May 27, 2009 by Bart Forcey

Alternative electric energy has seen a marked increase in investment over recent years. As the world responds to the range of crises presented by global warming, viable solutions are being sought to combat the problem.

Since the industrial revolution, we have placed heavy demand on non renewable resources such as coal, oil, and gas. In some countries deforestation is compounded by people who still use wood for charcoal. This trend cannot continue and massive investment into alternative electric energy is imperative.

Most alternative electric energy systems are based on very simple technology that is easy to understand. Each of them is based on the concept of harnessing the infinite energy of nature to produce electricity. If more alternative electricity systems could be made use of this could help preserve our finite resources.

Many alternative electric energy systems have been around for a long time. They have been modernized and operate with the use of updated technology. We’ve probably all come across terms such as wind power, solar energy or even water power.

Windmills used by our predecessors to grind corn or wheat have evolved into the modern wind turbines we see today. Both types of windmill operate on similar principles. Each has large blades that rotate when the wind is trapped in them. The old windmill shafts were connected to a great millstone that would slowly roll as the wind turned the vanes. Newer windmills now turn electric generating turbines instead.

Like wind power, hydro power is an alternative electric energy system that has been around for a long time. Rushing water from rivers was harnessed to turn a wheel that was also connected to a mill. Modern hydro power typically uses the force of water released from a dam to turn the blades of a turbine. Turbines are connected to a generator that produces electricity. Hydro electric power is considered a clean and cost effective alternative energy system for mass usage.

The most popular alternative electricity system for homes, schools and businesses is solar power. The technology used is the most groundbreaking because it harnesses the sun’s energy with tiny components called photo voltaic cells. These cells convert the energy into electricity which is able to charge batteries for consumers to make use of as needed. Solar energy is a slightly more complex technology than other alternative electricity systems but it also the most adaptable.

Should I Try Solar Panels Electricity?

May 26, 2009 by Joan T. Ritzborough

In 2006 – according to the Energy Information Administration’s report – around 86% of the earth’s primary energy was produced using non-renewable energy hydrocarbons. The rest were produced with the help of other forms of energy such as water and nuclear power plants, with less than one percent energy were contributed by green energy like solar, geothermal and wind.

Why are not people interested in using these green energy resources? Name solar energy, for example. You can find a wide range of its application but most of us seem neglecting it. To understand this issue better we have to put together all pros and cons of the solar technology itself.

Solar energy is renewable, free and can be found almost anywhere on earth. This is the main pro. We don’t need to worry about supply because nature provides it for us every day.

During the process, solar panels electricity generation does not pollute the air because there are no hydrocarbons burned. A lot of money can be saved and we also keep our planet clean. Another plus point is the panels work quietly due to no mechanical components movement involved.

Another good point to consider is you can get credit from your utility company if the solar panels produce electricity more than the amount that your household needs. This will be a win-win solution: any excess electricity will be taken by the grid making the meter spin backwards so you get credit from it and if the solar generator can’t fully supply the electricity then you can always get it from the grid. Most of you have probably heard about this net metering policy.

OK, now let’s look at the main con. Solar energy is free but you need to spend an initial cost to process the energy. Be prepared to buy parts such as solar panels, inverter, solar charge controller and batteries if you prefer to have it off-grid plus other accessories needed. This is not a small amount of money and normally the electricity generated can pay the initial cost back after some years since its initial day.

There are some other factors that affect the solar panels performance. You can expect the panels to produce maximum electricity during full sunny days only. Clouds and winter season will obviously reduce the electricity generated. Pollutants and dirt deposited on top of the panels’glass cover will also reduce the panels output. Don’t forget that you have to spare some space for the solar panels. The more electricity you need the bigger area they will occupy your yard. Whenever possible you should get them roof mounted.

While the electricity generating process emits no pollution using solar batteries to store the electricity may harm the environment because they are toxic. Please refer to your local regulation for batteries disposal.

Solar panels electricity is one of the most possible energy in the future but hoping it to totally phase out the fossil fuels will still take years to materialize. However you shouldn’t be pessimistic because solar cell technology has been improved a lot and we can expect soon the solar kits and installation cost will be more affordable. The fossil fuels is depleting and we must choose other alternatives which are friendly to the environment and at the same time are provided free by nature. Maybe right now it is not a good solution for everybody but if you are living out there without power lines this can be your perfect solution.

Alternative Energy – Solutions

May 25, 2009 by Gogreen

First of all, set thermostats to 78 degrees in summer, 68 degrees in winter. Remember, always run your HVAC system on auto. For example, if you have recently remodeled an old house you must be sure that you have plenty of insulation to make the house more energy efficient. Besides, check to see if the relative humidity inside your house during the summer is not less than 60%. It goes without saying, run ceiling paddle fans on medium, blowing down in summer and up in winter. Be sure, this really does help to make your room more energy efficient.

Don’t forget to change HVAC filters monthly. You should know, when the filter is dirty, it doesn’t work efficiently. Sometimes, as far as my personal experience can be taken into account, you might find that you may have to change it more ofttimes . Also you should check the types of filters available and don’t be cheap. Moreover, get a decent filter for the conditions of your home. Also, make sure the filters are facing the correct way. And don’t forget to have your unit checked at least once a year by a professional to make sure that you have no problems. By the way, if you have a window A/C unit, you will also need to change its filters monthly and be sure to check that you have decently placed weather stripping around it. Actually, read the directions that came with your window A/C unit for proper use. It’s self-evident that when heating or cooling, windows shall be kept locked. Also make sure that your windows are the correct type of windows. It’s obvious, energy efficient windows will keep the cold out. In connection with this, check to make sure your windows and doors have the proper weather stripping. If it is necessary, caulk around the outside of your windows. You need also to be aware of that closing your shades or curtains at night during the winter will keep the heat in the house and closing them during the summer days will keep the heat out.

As you know, it is better to insulate electric wall plugs and wall switches with foam pads. It is easy: just screw off the face plate and place them inside. Even if your walls are insulated, as far as this issue is concerned, you will still loose a certain amount of energy through the wall outlet. Insulate attics, attic doors and keep attic doors closed tightly. Remember, heat rises. You may also caulk along baseboards with a clear sealant. Besides, you can usually paint over caulk, if you want it to match the paint in your room. Also caulk around plumbing pipes, phone lines and electrical wires that come through the wall or floors of your home from the outside. You should know that this will prevent air from coming in and any bugs that might squeeze through, as well.

Besides, it would be preferable to close fireplace valves when not burning a fire. It’s important to note, not only does it allow the outside air to come in, causing a draft, but it also can allow birds and other things to come in as well. As a matter of fact, make sure inside and outside that the vents are not blocked. It is obvious that when you take a closer look at this issue that for your house to run efficiently you need to be sure that air flows properly inside and outside.

Myths about Hybrid Cars

May 25, 2009 by Colin Jones

If you are thinking about a hybrid vehicle, you may be hearing quite a bit of “talk”. Some people think the hybrid car is the best thing on the market. Other people say it will just pass. Yet other people again say they think they can save a packet, but you’re not sure it’s really worth it. What’s the truth, and how do you separate myth from fact with all of the stuff that is being said to you? Below, you can read and consider the common hybrid vehicle myths.

Hybrid cars are the same as electric cars: This is untrue since hybrid cars are fuel-powered most of the time. But they have what are called ‘battery assists’. The assist is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack that is rechargeable.

You are guaranteed to save money with a hybrid car: If you are doing city driving, you may save gas and you may not. The same goes for long-distance driving. There are so just many different factors involved. It has been said that if everyone bought a hybrid car, the fuel consumption would decrease by just 10%. That’s not a very big decline, now is it?

A hybrid vehicle’s battery can run flat: A hybrid car battery should not run flat when you are actually driving it. The engine of a hybrid vehicle does not idle when stopped (at a red light for instance). What does it do then? Well, it recharges its battery. So there’s no need to worry about a hybrid car stopping on that score.

A hybrid vehicle’s rechargeable battery only lasts for two years: A hybrid vehicle certainly would not be worth buying if this was the case. A hybrid car’s rechargeable batteries usually come with an 8-year warranty.

If I run out of fuel, I can continue driving on the hybrid vehicle battery: Bear in mind, a hybrid car’s battery is an assist. That means that hybrid car’s still run on fuel. After you run out of gas, the battery could keep the car running for a short while. However, the vehicle will cease running pretty soon.

Hybrid vehicles will soon put normal car sellers out of business: This probably won’t happen anytime soon. The reason for the delay has to do with the how much a hybrid cars cost. Many people simply can’t afford one. Furthermore, people just aren’t too sure whether they will actually save money on a hybrid car. Therefore, they are loathe to join the rush of people who want to own a hybrid car.

Hybrid cars will only save you about 88 dollars a year: I did see something on the news the other day, but it may be untrue. If there’s something you really want and there’s a lot of gossip surrounding it, you simply have got to do of your own research. There are many different types of hybrid car, and many different manufacturers make them. This means that there may be much more involved than we have time to discuss here. A hybrid car may be of use to you, and it may not, but at the end of the day, is up to you.

So, just don’t worry a great deal about what other people say. They probably have only listened to others passing on gossip. Do your own research and make up your own mind. Try the Internet to get your information. The manufacturer’s advertising is also quite useful, if you stick to reading the facts and gloss over the gloss. Check that whatever the literature claims is also in the guarantee.

The Best Secrets Of Air Purifiers – The Benefits Of Reading Consumer Reports Or Customer Feedback

May 25, 2009 by Gogreen

Are you looking to purchase a new air purifier for your home? If so, have you purchased one before? If you have never purchased an air purifier before, you may not know exactly what you should be looking for or which type of air purifier is considered the best. If this is the case, you are advised to do a little bit of research, before making your final purchase. This research should involve consumer reports or customer feedback.

We have all heard of consumer reports before. In fact, these reports are regularly featured on the news, on the radio, and on television. Consumer reports are often generated by a group of trained individuals or traditional consumers, either one or the other. These individuals will test and review a particular product. Many times these products include cars computer equipment, and televisions. But, did you know there are also consumer reports done on air purifiers. If you are able to find these reports, which you should easily be able to do online, you should be able to obtain valuable information on some of the most popular and well-known air purifiers on the market.

In addition to using consumer reports, you can also obtain customer feedback online. Customer feedback is feedback that is left by a customer who recently purchased or used the particular product in question. Many of these reviews or product ratings are done for a number of different popular and well-known air purifier makes and models. If you are able to find these reviews, you could very well stay up-to-date on the latest products to hit the market. A customer feedback will likely not only include the price of an air purifier, but also the quality of its performance.

As previously mentioned, it is easiest to read consumer reports or view customer feedback online. When searching for consumer reports, you will likely want to perform a standard internet search. You may want to search using the words consumer reports, air purifiers. Combining the words air purifiers and consumer reports, will likely provide you with more accurate results. Consumer reports, as stated above, are performed on a wide variety of different products. Tailoring your search specifically to air purifiers is the best way to do the research, without wasting your time.

If you are looking for customer feedback, from previously air purifier buyers, you will also want to use the internet. If you know the name of a particular air purifier, you may want to perform a standard internet search with that name. Your results should include product information, as well as customer feedback or customer ratings. In addition to a standard internet search, you may also want to visit the website of an online retailer, particularly one that sells air purifiers. Many online retail stores allow their customers to review the products in which they purchased from their store.

Although the internet is a great way to learn more about air purifiers, you can also speak to those that you know. Over the past few years, the use of air purifiers in homes has skyrocketed. This means that there is a good chance that you know someone who has used an air purifier in the past or who still does. If you do know someone, you are advised to inquire about the product they have or had. Those that you know are more likely to provide you with honest answers, when compared to strangers over the internet.

As you should be able to see, there are a number of different ways that you can go about searching for customer feedback or consumer reports, for air purifiers. The benefits to doing so are unlimited. Not only can you be altered to well performing air purifiers, but you can also familiarize yourself with air purifiers that you are advised to stay away from. This valuable piece of information may help you have hundred of dollars, if not thousands, overtime. Read more other articles about plus size wedding gowns and wedding suits.

The General Report Of Air Purifiers: Are They Worth The Buy? .

Do you own an air purifier, if not, there is a good chance that you would be interested in owning one in the future, if you aren’t already interested. That is because air purifiers are rapidly increasing in popularity. Why you may ask? Air purifiers are rapidly increasing in popularity because they make indoor air healthier and cleaner. This means that by owning an air purifier, your home or your office space could become a pleasant place to be, instead of an unhealthy or an unpleasant place.

When it comes to air purifiers, despite the fact that they are popular, there are still many individuals who wonder whether or not they should get one. This is because many individuals wonder whether or not air purifiers are actually worth the buy. Are you one of those individuals? If so, you may be in for the surprise of your life. That is because, in most cases, air purifiers are not only a good buy, but they could also be considered quite a deal.

Quite a deal, you wonder? When it comes to air purifiers, there are many individuals who feel that they are expensive to purchase. While air purifiers can be expensive to purchase, you need to remember one thing. They result in clean air, which is easier to breathe. Can you put a price tag on that? That is why, when you think about, air purifiers are a great deal; thus making them definitely worth the buy. However, as great as air purifiers are, you need to remember that they are not all the same. That is why it is important that you know what you are buying.

When buying an air purifier, you need to examine the overall cost of an air purifier. The overall cost of owning an air purifier isn’t just the price that you pay at the store; it is the price overtime. With many air purifiers, you are required to change the filter every few months. This ups the cost of an air purifier. For that reason, you are advised to examine the cost of a replacement filter, before making your purchase. If you are concerned with the cost of a replacement filter, you will want to examine air purifiers that do not use filters, just collection grids. These types of air purifiers may cost more money, upfront, but they could end up saving you money, in the long run.

It is also important to examine what you will be using your air purifier for. A large number of individuals use air purifiers if they have pets or if they have a smoker inside the house. Unfortunately, not all air purifiers are designed to remove these types of particles from the air. Therefore, if you plan on using an air purifier for smoke or for pets, you are advised to thoroughly read the descriptions of each air purifier that you are interested in buying. Buying the wrong type of air purifier can turn an otherwise good purchase into one that is definitely not worth the buy.

By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should be able to find and purchase the air purifier that best fits your needs and the needs of your household. This is, in turn, will make your next air purifier purchase definitely worth the buy. Read more other articles about wedding napkins and wedding cake stands.

Which Kind Of Radiant Floor Heating Is Optimum?

May 25, 2009 by Gogreen

You may know that not every system is perfect for every project, but there is an ideal system for every project.

For your information, hydronic floor heating is the oldest and most popular type of radiant floor heating. It is important to note that these systems include a boiler or hot water heater, pumps, manifolds, pex tubing, thermostat, and either gypcrete (a concrete-like material) or wood panels. As a matter of fact, hydronic heating is the most complex of all radiant heat systems. It is vital to note that these systems require trained professionals to design and perform the installation. You need also to be aware of that that your best economies of scale are achieved for hydronic systems in large areas or entire homes because of their expensive components and operational costs. In fact, hydronic systems can be installed under any type of flooring. By the way, most hydronic systems require hot water tubing to be installed in a 2 to 4 inch bed of light concrete and are best installed during the initial construction because of its weight load requirements and adjustments to floor height. As good luck would have it, recent low-mass products have been developed to avoid these challenges by fitting the tubing into pre-cut wood panels making hydronic systems more convenient and possible for most major remodeling projects.

But in cases if you want to heat smaller areas like a bathroom or kitchen, a hydronic floor heating system may not be the best value for your project. Among others, electric cable heating systems, often called line or high voltage systems, are gaining popularity and are ideal for heating smaller areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and sun rooms. So far as we know, these systems are comprised of a thermostat and a heating cable. By the way, these systems are often cheaper , and give you the ability to space the cable how you want and customize a layout that will heat every square inch of your floor. Besides, other systems have the cable attached to a plastic mesh or tape to create a mat to maintain its proper spacing. To the best of our knowledge, every available cable system is equally effective, and so when determining which system to purchase, you should look at the warranty of the product, along with the ease of installation. You should also know, some cables must be embedded in a separate layer of concrete or mortar, whereas other systems can simply be installed in the thin set. Unfortunately, most cable systems can only be installed under tile. However, on the other hand, if the cable is embedded in mortar or concrete, any laying can be installed on top of the concrete.

Finally, it is important to note that there are low-voltage radiant heat systems. These systems are ideal for mid-size to larger areas and are comprised of a operating panel , transformer, heating screen or cable, and thermostat. In conclusion, the main advantage to a low-voltage screen system is the extremely low profile of the heating element.

Untold Story About Air Purifiers – The Importance Of Filters

May 25, 2009 by Gogreen

When it comes to purchasing an air purifier, there are many individuals who are concerned with the cost of doing so. While it is important that you are able to find a product that you can afford, the cost of an air purifier is not all that you need to think about. In fact, it is important to not only examine the air purifier as a whole, but its parts as well. When it comes to air purifier parts, you are advised to place a focus on the filters used.

Before you can begin examining the filters that are used with most air purifiers, it is important to remember one thing. Most air purifiers use filters, but not all do. There are a number of air purifiers on the market that are filter-less. Many times, these air purifiers use a collection grid instead of a filter. Instead of replacing a filter, these collection grids often just need to be wiped off. Essentially, if you are looking for a low maintenance air purifier, you may want to think about purchasing an air purifier that is filter-less.

Despite the fact that filter-less air purifiers are easier to maintain, you will often find that they are relatively expensive to afford. While the cost will be worth in the long run, you may not have the money needed, upfront, to purchase one. If this is the case, it is likely that you will purchase an air purifier that uses a filter. When doing this, it is important to examine the filter that is used. It has been noted that HEPA filters are one of the best types of filters to have.

HEPA filters; are you wondering why they are considered the best? If so, you are definitely not alone. Air purifier manufacturers, who use HEPA filters, must abide by a number of different rules and regulations. These rules and regulations are often imposed by the Department of Energy. HEPA filters, thanks to these strict rules and regulations are almost twice as effective as most other filters, when it comes to trapping bacteria or harmful air particles. You will find that air purifiers with HEPA filters tend to cost money than those with other filters; however, they are often worth the extra cost.

In addition to the type of filter being used, it is also important to examine if any replacement filters are needed. There are a number of air purifiers on the market today which have filters that only need to be cleaned, often with a vacuum cleaner; however, the majority of filters need to be replaced. When examining replacement filters, it is not only important to examine the cost of those filters, but when they need to be replaced as well. It is not uncommon for filter replacements to be needed around once a year, but some filters can go for as long as three, while others only make it for a few months. Since replacement parts, including air purifiers, will have an impact on the cost of owning an air purifier, it is important that you determine that cost ahead of time.

As you should be able to see, the filters used have a significant impact on all air purifiers that use them. By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should not only be able to purchase a quality air purifier, but one that is affordable. Renewable Energy Is The Future

May 24, 2009 by Alexis Jameson

Coming from a number of different natural resources, renewable energy is the only possibility we have for supplying ourselves with power in the future. Not only is renewable energy cleaner and burning fossil fuels, but they will never run out. With the right technology, we can happily relying on the power of wind, sunlight, water and geothermal energy to supply us with power for the rest of our existence.

These days, by far the most common form of energy, which people around the world used to supply heat and light, is simply the burning of wood. However, hydroelectricity is one of the biggest suppliers in the world of electricity accounting for almost 20 per cent of the world’s electricity.

Power from the wind comes in the form of enormous wind farms, which supply electricity by converting the natural power of the wind into electricity that we can use. Unfortunately, these have become infamous in certain parts of Europe whereby a very popular, due to the enormous amount of land they take up an the relatively small amount of electricity that they can generate. Because of this, the local environment can be seriously impacted, although they can also be placed out at sea in certain cases.

Another form of renewable energy that is the most popular one in the world today, is hydroelectricity. Hydroelectricity is power entirely generated by the forces of water in the forms of waves, tides, water wheels and water mills. Although large hydroelectricity plants generally rely on dams, which are very expensive to build, they also produce a great deal of electricity, currently supplying almost 20 per cent of the world’s electricity.

Solar power is also becoming an increasingly popular form of renewable energy. Solar panels work by way of taking in the sunlight and converting it into electrical power. The only obvious disadvantage to this, is that it relies on a considerable amount of sunlight. Solar power is becoming increasingly popular as a domestic form of electrical supply. Although they are not cheap to buy, any electricity which they generate, which is not used by the household is often then sold back into the grid, making it not only an environmentally friendly option, but it can also save you money.

Biofuel is also becoming more widely used, even in consumer products such as motor cars, some of which are being manufactured to use a dual fuel system. Biofuel scam from recently deceased organic matter, unlike fossil fuels which come from organic matter that has been deceased a long time.

Geothermal heat is the Earth’s natural supply of heat which can provide us with an endless supply of power. Unfortunately the plants needed to process geothermal heat a very costly to build, but on the bright side they generate a great deal of electricity.

The market for renewable energy is getting larger and larger three year. With governments, organizations and individuals getting more and more worried about the rapidly decreasing supply of fossil fuels and a rising interest of renewable energy, more and more people are starting to turn to environmentally friendly options. Growing 30% per year, the solar power market is perhaps the most prevalent, with more and more people starting to put the installations in their homes.

Unfortunately, we only have one planet, and we cannot afford to destroy it, likewise, we cannot afford to continue to rely on fossil fuels, the supplies which are dwindling.

How To Reduce Your Energy Bills

May 22, 2009 by Gogreen

It’s not a secret that heating costs continue to rise each year. As a matter of fact the two significant factors of natural disasters and the war in Iraq contribute to this inflation of home heating expenses related to electric, gas and oil furnaces alike. In order to lower your bills you should follow the next tips:

First of all, if it is sunny on a winter day, be sure to keep your curtains and blinds open during the day to let the rays in to provide some warmth. However, as far as my personal experience can be taken into account, when dusk and night hours draw near , you should shut and curtains and blinds. Don’t forget to re-open them the next morning. Besides, if you are not using a room, leave the door closed. If we are making a closer investigation of this problem, this will avoid the necessity to provide extra heat to that room, and also limit the cold air from escaping into the other rooms. When this happens, as a matter of fact, the vessel must work harder to heat the house and increase heating costs. Don’t forget to check your windows to see if they are well sealed. If not, as far as this issue is concerned, the windows will allow cold air from the outside to enter the home, again making the furnace work harder to provide heat. By the way, a good way to test if your windows are well sealed, is to turn of all fans as well as the furnace, and produce smoke near the window. Remember, if air is entering the home through the windows, the smoke will move toward the window. You can purchase window sealing packets, for example, from a home improvement store. It is obvious that tamping the windows is another option. It’s common knowledge that cold air may be coming into the house from the attic due to poor insulation. An important point is that there should be enough air pockets in the insulation to trap the cold air and push it away from the living areas. It will be useful for you to find out, old, insufficient insulation is usually flat and brittle which indicates that it is time to replace the insulation.

As a matter of fact, buying a ceiling fan is another way to retrench heating costs. As you know, ceiling fans help push and keep the warmer air down. Besides, most models include reversible switches allowing the fans to be used in the summer as well. Don’t be afraid, the cost of the fan will, at some point, be made up with the money saved in heating costs. As it could be observed , even the implementation of a few steps above will lead to better heating and a reduction in heating costs.

Read More Tips About Underfloor Heating

May 22, 2009 by Gogreen

In fact, underfloor heating is growing in popularity because it has many advantages over the traditional form of heating, such as: low installation cost and no maintenance costs. It will be useful for you to discover that the heat is spread evenly over the whole room instead of being centered around a radiator or a fireplace, and because radiant heat is used, it reduces the airborne circulation of dust and house mites, which is ideal for asthma sufferers.

In most cases, according to my experience, underfloor heating can be the primary source of heating in a home that is adequately proofed . In addition, it is also advisable to add floor insulation when the underfloor heating is installed, to prevent heat loss into the sub-floor, otherwise more energy will be used to heat the room.

It has long been known that there are generally two different types of underfloor heating: warm water (wet) systems, or electric (dry) systems. We have every reason to believe that today’s homes principally use the electric system, as the electric cables are located directly under the floor and heat the floor quickly, thus making them more efficient and cheaper to run than the wet system. Besides, the electric cables are usually installed onto an insulation board and covered directly with the covering of your choice. It is important to note that the temperature control for each room is made easy by a programmable digital thermostat. What’s more important, underfloor heating can be used in every room in your home, including the conservatory and the bathroom. Installing underfloor heating in the conservatory, if we are making a closer investigation of this problem, allows you to enjoy your conservatory all year round, and in the bathroom as well.

Beyond any doubt, once underfloor heating is installed it can enhance the appearance of a room, because there aren’t any unsightly radiators taking up wall space. Besides, it allows you freedom of choice for furniture location, as you don’t have any radiators to avoid. And, for example, in common places, it can improve safety and health because there aren’t any hot pipes or sharp surfaces. Underfloor heating can be used with wooden and concrete flooring and, as far as this issue is concerned, with different types of floor covering, such as: laminate, stone, vinyl, tile and wood. Remember, the underfloor cable heating mats come with full installation instructions but, keep in mind, it is strongly suggested a qualified electrician attaches the cable heating system to the household electrical mains.

If the thought of doing DIY is hair-raising for you, or you have a large area that needs underfloor heating, don’t be afraid, the system can be positioned by a company that specialises in this system.

LCD widescreen means that the LCD has an aspect ratio of 16:9, which has been growing in popularity over the last couple of years. LCD Widescreen is better because it allows you to see the whole photo as it was intended in movies.

LCD Widescreen-format monitors have recently entered the market. Most companies now opt to manufacture 16:10 aspect ratio models, virtually abandoning the 4:3 formats. Most motion pictures shown now are in the 16:9 formats and are optimally viewed on a widescreen monitor or television. Picture displays on standard TVs have 4:3 aspect ratios. This means that some parts of the image are cropped. Picture displays on widescreen TVs present the entire image.

The innovative range of Plasma and LCD Widescreen TVs include unique features such as the XD Engine chip, Clear Filter Technology and Intelligent Eye which enhances the image quality depending on the lighting surroundings.

LCD widescreen is the ideal size for travel, while also giving you a generous viewing area to work efficiently.

The 15in LCD widescreen is great for people to enjoy a movie together because it is big and, more importantly, has excellent viewing angles.

LCD Widescreen has been designed specifically for the healthcare industry. Enjoy the crispness in patient waiting areas and lobbies.

Widescreen format displays are optimal for computer playback due to the aspect ratio of modern DVDs and some TV programs. This display, compared to the 4:3 displays, is closer to the aspect ratio of the common keyboard. This is important for laptops, where the total surface area of the device is limited.

Movies are shot in widescreen and widescreen more closely resembles the way we (human beings) see the world. With a 4/3 aspect a established TV will have to compress the image size to fit. Widescreen TV will not have to compress it nearly as much (or not at all).

The notebook comes with a glossy LCD screen, which displays breathtaking photos but requires a dimly lit environment for you to fully appreciate it.

LCD monitor delivers vibrant colors, crisp text, and incredibly fast response time. This display offers DVI-D (with HDCP) and VGA inputs for flexible monitor setup.

Make every seat the best seat in the house. Wide viewing angles mean the widescreen demonstrate can be clearly seen from practically anywhere in the room.

Philips and Samsung LCD HDTV has released an even wider screen you’ll see vertical bars on the sides of your set every time you watch network television. Or you’ll be treated to distortion in the picture due to aspect ratio correction as imagesare stretched into the shape of your screen.

The basic advantage of LCD televisions is their flatness. Even a LCD widescreen TV will be no more than a couple of inches thick. This also makes them lightweight. LCD widescreen TVs can therefore be fixed to wall mounts with supports. Due to this reason, one finds LCD widescreen TVs in hotels, airports, hospitals, discotheques, bars and wherever TVs can be mounted.

Why Is Recycling So Important and What Can We Do?

May 21, 2009 by Terry

Have you ever wondered if what you know about recycling is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on recycling.

Many councils do not recycle other types of plastic or boxboard that is commonly used in consumer packaging. Many public works department gathers recyclable material, stores it and then resells what it can to generate revenue to offset expenses. These include a complementary collection from the waste collection agency of move-in boxes. What’s more, the council offer free home composters for the backyards of keen gardeners. A green box & net will be provided for clean glass bottles & jars, clean food cans, drinks cans & foil and empty plastic bottles.

The most import contributing factors in the amount of maize straw recycled to silage were straw recycling costs, number of farm animals and extension. These factors contributed to 87% in that recycled amount. This scheme is an important competitive element in driving up standards of safety, and it benefits insurance costs too. The collected samples of mail and other office paper, irradiated it, and, with the independent paper sciences laboratory paper services, subjected the paper to various tests. Leaves may be collected and worked directly into garden and flowerbed soils. A 6-8 inch layer of leaves tilled into a heavy, clay soil will improve aeration and drainage.

Setting up an office recycling scheme is something that all businesses can do to help the environment, and in many cases save money. Regardless of how many people work in your office, there are always steps that can be taken to recycle some of your waste. In the past few decades there has been much talk about global warming and the effects it has on our climate and environment. With that talk comes a lot of debate on the causes and effects of global warming. One way SC Johnson is doing what’s right for the environment is by reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, SC Johnson sources 38 percent of its global electricity from clean renewable solutions like wind energy and a co-generation turbine(2).

If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

This represents a 27 percent increase from 2005. Still, additional material will need to be collected for manufacturers to reach their goal. Six out 10 women felt it’s time to promote a greener economy, while 57 percent are behind promoting green and sustainable development. Its customer base has grown by 100 percent since January, doubling itself each month. If this rate continues, Natur-Energi will have around 50,000 consumers by the end of 2009.

One bin should be for paper goods, such as newspapers and magazines, another one should be for cans and aluminum foil and a third bin should be used for glass products. Show your child how to rinse out the items before placing them in the bin, too. They will also spend less on production costs and the consumers will pay less for the goods which will encourage more purchasing as their dollar will have more value on recycled products.

People want to support companies that have a positive influence in society and that can be respected for reasons of morality. The 123-year old company, with more than $8 billion in sales, employs approximately 12,000 people globally and sells products in more than 110 countries.
